Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
It’s a recurring theme based on McGrath’s season to date but it really is essential that JGP stays fit.

No harm. It’ll probably be a callow enough travelling party and it keeps the Lions guessing with their analysis.triplebogey wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:39 pm So did Leinster just never announce the squad that travelled to SA? Bit weird.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
This. Leinster can probably help. As has been suggested, there ought to be some sharing of IP between the provinces, and no, Leinster’s big advantage isn’t having some fancy private schools. Hard to get your act together when one province has nearly double the budget of any of the others and they a...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Leinster have a smaller senior squad though with a bigger academy. Also it's not like the Leinster academy only provides for Leinster. Leinster have a 44 man senior squad containing 26 Irish internationals (21 of whom have been involved with Ireland in the past year) and 3 capped NIQs, Leinster are...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
So with Snyman replacing Jenkins and Tupou potentially replacing Ala'alatoa, any word on Ngatai? Will he be replaced or even kept on? I know he's fairly old and somewhat injury prone but Leinster could credibly use that to their benefit and get him relatively cheap on a 1 yr extension. He's an exce...

Hypothetically, come the end of the season you’d be wiping out any player welfare/cumulative fatigue advantage of a rest this week if you subsequently have to travel down to SA and back in the playoffs culminating in a probable final at altitude in Pretoria. Leinster will take plenty of ‘learnings’ from last season in their approach to selection for the URC run-in, starting on Friday. Also, good to see Tommy O’Brien training today with Leinster after going off with what looked like another injury against Benneton last week.

I don't get what Bealham has done to get himself canned at all, but definitely not a hill I'd die on either. I love the forwards bench with Kelleher+Ryan+Baird+Conan to come on, serious impact. Delighted for Frawley, feels this has been a long time coming. McCloskey has also earned that bench spot....

Bulls doing their bit to get Leinster a top 2 seed so far anyway. Obviously Leinster need to as well. Given Bordeaux left half their team at home and more benched it's not a bad showing. Irrespective of the final score, scoring 40 points away to the Bulls in mid summer is some performance. On the e...

So yes, Leinster all but through as group winners if Leicester don't scramble a bonus point. Looks fairly impossible to get top seeding unless Bath do the impossible.
