Re: Official Springboks thread

Weren‘t the Boks supposed to play Ireland again in the EOYTs?! Would make it a Grand Slam tour. The test windows in July and November are each just 3 weekends, so only 3 tests can be played. As a result it's unlikely that we'll get another Grand Slam opportunity anytime soon. The first test against...

Re: Chasing the Sun 2

Just watched the last episode. My avator man is a legend. Wat 'n yster! Much like Willie in 2019, I didn't even know Fourie was carrying a shoulder injury into the final. I really hope his injury vs La Rochelle wasn't a career-ender. He deserves a better send-off than that! His performances in the ...

Re: Chasing the Sun 2

So many good quotes, especially for Nienaber's speech. "You're just a f**king obstacle to hop over for them" "fudge you, we'll write our own script" And Rassie's speech at the end was unbelievable moving. That one minute carried more weight than any political party speech I've seen in SA in years. ...

Re: The best new and returning TV series of 2024?

Also, should we really use Mary Sue for male characters? Maybe a Luke Skywalker or an Anakin Skywalker would work better? ;) (We need a fishing smilie). Man, The Americans drags on. Only at series 3 but it’s become repetitive and depressing. Does it pick itself up? Nope . It’s pretty rubbish actual...

Hugh Bladen. Not so much in his later years when he became quite clumsy though. But he was the enigmatic voice of South African rugby for many years. Bladen, for sure. Legendary. THE Voice of SA Rugby. Grant Nisbitt for NZ. He’s horrific. Yes he is. I rather meant he is the voice of nz Rugby

Felix (I think that is his name) has been the most impressive of the coaches/analysts to me.
Absolutely, quite surprised how vital he seemed to be. He really is a big loss.
I am also quite surprised how little Nienaber features. Felix and Rassie are all over the place

I remember that, that they only announced shortly prior to the fixture. Jacques also mentiones, that the constant changing of the squad also makes them less predicable and harder to analyze, which is exactly what they intend by that

I think you over estimate NZ's ability to influence World Rugby. If they had it their way, pitches would be as wide as they are long... Tough one, I went for Wales, had me worried the most

Physically: Wales 2019 - bogey team, no gameplan other that "f*ck em up physically"
Emotionally: France 2023 - host nation, 1 week of La Marseillaise during training
Mentally: England 2023 - the qf win the week before drained them mentally

Not sure why coaches continue to take such a huge risk by opting for a 6-2 bench split? It cost the Blues the match yesterday, they had a halfback playing on the wing for three quarters of the game. I know the Springboks won the last RWC with a 6-2 split, but I don't actually think it in itself was...

Willie Le Roux Saffers seem to love him but he was a gobby twat and total fanny at Wasps, phoning it in and being Pudsey’s best boy by not getting his kit messy. 1st season aside, he was superb for Wasps. Formed a fantastic double act with Cipriani. He’s also far from universally loved in SA. Rathe...
