Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

Am probably. Kiwis call #13 centre Bit surprised by Mains there, I think Am has shown himself to be a quality centre, certainly one of the better Saffa centres for quite some time. I suppose from a Kiwi point of view a midfielder who doesn't attack is a bit of a waste In the last 4 tests the Bok 10...

Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

Mains’ swipe at the Springboks comes following their two straight Test defeats by the Wallabies in Gold Coast and Brisbane, respectively. “I think there’s four or five players in that team that simply are not up to Test level, and I think you’ll see that the All Blacks’ three-quarters will run riot...

Re: Why is Pollard in the Bok team?

Only slightly related, but is there still no better metric for measuring kicking ability than successful kick %? It doesn't take into account that teams like the Boks who often score from mauls, score their tries in wide positions so the kick is harder. Handre isn't playing well at the moment, but ...

Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

And this is literally a discussion about starting Elton at 10 with Pollard at 12 for the AB vs Bok game this weekend. So what's your point? So your suggestion Jensra is to have two players who can hoof the ball into the air? ;) No, while Jantjies has worked on his kicking game in order to stay in t...

True though Not really In 2016 the Boks won the series against Ireland while Elton played with broken fingers on his right hand. He played because Pollard was injured and Lambulance got knocked out by CJ and we had no other flyhalves available He is blamed for the 57-0 loss to the ABs meanwhile Pol...

Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

The Boks should 1. Scrap the "bomb squad" which isn't a bomb squad anymore 2. Start with Marx at 2. He's the best 2 at the breakdowns we have 3. Start with one of the twins at 7 4. Start with Elton at 10 and Pollard at 12. Pollard at 10 isn't working and the currently midfield isn't an attacking mi...

Re: Why is Pollard in the Bok team?

Pollard is there because Jurie hates Francois Steyn and Johan Goosen, and the others are not good enough (or too old) Frans is an overweight hasbeen who never was a great #10 and Goosen hasn't played competatively at 10 since 2018. Both his French clubs quickly moved him from 10 to 13 and 15. The f...

Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

A strange venue for a game of such numerical significance. Still wish the AB’s had managed to get past England in 2019 so that the 100th game could have been a RWC final, instead it’s in Townsville, not Tokyo! Oh well… The last few outings have not been great for the Bokke. The All Blacks can play ...

Re: Why is Pollard in the Bok team?

But Pollard felt it was the best attacking game the team has produced this year. “It was our best attacking performance of the year in terms of finding space and getting the ball into space but we just weren’t clinical enough,” he said. “We didn’t capitalise on our opportunities and every time we g...

Re: Rugby Championship: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Sat 25th Sept

This is going to be a tough one. The Boks looked jaded and confused yesterday and their play-by-numbers game wasn't working and when they tried to change it up it wasn't working either. And that was in the first half that I watched, the second half apparently was worse Ideally the "A team" should ha...

If you stick with Pollard you also have to stick with Willie because Willie is the backline playmaker I rate Fassi, don't understand why he isn't getting a run. Given that the All-Blacks are next I doubt they will make too many changes. Such a shame that Snyman and PSDT are out they are really real...

Re: Rugby Championship: Wallabies vs Springbokke: MATCH THREAD: Sat 18th Sept

We always seem to trouble the Boks and they in turn match up well against the ABs. In recent years the Pumas have given us trouble. Next week both games will be interesting. The Boks don’t typically match up well to NZ either. There may be an impression they fire up more for the old foe but 3 wins ...

Anyone who still think Nienaber is qualified to coach the Boks without his puppet master needs to see a psychologist
