The experience I have from this side of the pond is that there’s not much wiggle room in a government contract. The design and spec book are very in-depth and precise about the quality of materials and handiwork that goes into the job. If you signed up to perform the contract for a certain price, t...

The bulk of the blame for NCH mess can indeed be laid at the feet of politicians. The design and procurement process from day 1 was completely inappropriate for the scale of the project, even before we get into the site selection process. It’s a classic mega project f*ck up but strangely not that un...

A few things.

The debt to GDP ratio is low to a significant degree because the GDP has been inflated by massive war spending.

A lot of what should be national debt has been forced on to private companies books.

Russia has pissed away almost all its national savings on the war effort.

Reform and the Greens are going to put everything into beating Burnham. Starmer is a clown but the vitriol he gets is ridiculous. Labours communications are terrible. The Greens and Deform are both populist fucktards who will bankrupt the country. Fully agree. What the UK really needed was at least...

25th amendment section 4 requires the VP and a majority of the cabinet to act. Odds of that happening?

At the beginning of this season. Deliberate rebranding carp

Cheers. And you have my sympathies.

They're very well organised. Got themselves into key decision making roles in the councils (the roll out of cycling infrastructure has been remarkable over the last decade) and had Eamonn in the transport department too. Overall a net positive on the city although I wish it was more focused on some...

It’s fewer, not less - can’t believe I came back for that. FML.

In fairness it's world rugby's demented decision to reduce tier one to 8 teams that provoked the closure of the irish 7s programme. Batshit crazy.

I am shocked, shocked to find that fraud is going on in here...... I assumed it was going to be trillions or at least billions, but they've 'found' couch change basically. And they're probably lying anyway. yeah....nah. Those would be the right states. Just cracks me up. NY city, Boston and a...

Apple carved out similar exemptions during trump 1.0. I wonder what they've offered this time.

I am shocked, shocked to find that fraud is going on in here...... After finding $382 million in fraudulent unemployment payments since 2020, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) identified California, New York and Massachusetts as the primary culprits. The three Democrat-led states...

In other news the Argentinian Trump/Truss has tanked his economy and his right wing fuckwittery has lead to hyperinflation and is now being bailed out by the IMF. Who knew such economic illiteracy would lead to collapsed? Err virtually everyone said this would happen and it has. Wasn't he a bit of ...

There's a generalised shortage of food products coming, in many ways it's already here and has been for the last two or so years. World war three is about 50:50 i'd say in the next dacade or so. Probably 85:15 if trump et al get a freeish rein. Not pretyy. Those who starve may be the lucky ones.

Probably sleeping pills and booze. We've all been there, right?

This is certainly not true. Among people who have really delved into the case (including of course two separate juries and the numerous expert witnesses that testified at the trials) opinion is strongly oriented towards guilty. Nope. just nope. Why not try to look at the evidence objectively? Give ...

You absolutely love a contrarian viewpoint, EDF. Anything which goes against the general consensus. At this stage, I think it’s safe to say that the contrarian viewpoint is that she’s guilty. So 100000s of Men continue to die in a meat grinder with only two potential outcomes, the wests victory in a nuclear war that will likely decimate the planet, or Ukraine concedes land. And the forum is celebrating the rejection of the latter. As long as you die a horrible death, it’ll be worth it.

Where do you think the instructions came from? IIRC the Supreme Court judges took UK's ECHR obligations in to consideration. Nope. They cited refoulment as their concern pure and simple. https://supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc_2023_0093_etc_judgment_636270e30e.pdf Any danger of you reading that? It do...

So, if I am to summarize the public positions of the parties at the moment: Ukraine: we'll sign a deal with the US on rare minerals but only if there are sufficient security guarantees in return. Rwanda wasn't a particularly good option but still better (if it wasn't blocked by ECHR) than Starmer's pie in thy sky ideas that will do SFA to deter bogus asylum seekers. Rwanda cost like 500 mil but thy cost of supporting hundreds of thousands of bogus asylum seekers and and their huge families ...

Tough, tough kicks for Fin. Feel for you. Gutted for the loss but if I'm going to try and be impartial, I'd say Eng are fortunate to have two wins from three. Another game they should have lost considering they conceded 3 tries to 1. Scotland a much improved performance but left too many points out...

Englands pack did well multiple times stopping Scotland in the 22..probaly what edged the game for England. All three of Scotlands tries were close to the touchline..not really the case that FR left anything out there rather than just struggled with difficult kicks The first kick should have been r...

Elmpark isn't much bigger than Blackrock College grounds. I guess the problem with golf clubs is accessibility. Elmpark is obviously pretty exclusive but if it was a public course, I don't think there'd be as much of an issue. Or if it was just a park. The issue isn't the green space, which I think...

I'll be stoked if RFK Jr gets the gig - hope he brings back Polio and TB. The only way these mouthbreathers, and the political elite that pander to them, will learn is if bad things happen to them.
