I don't know if it is just me but whenever I see someone use the word woke I automatically assume they are a really shit person. This. And I don't even sit comfortably on the political left or the right. I'm guessing the word has subtly different connotations in antipodea than it does oop north.

The pier wouldn't have been designed for a neopanamax vessel back in the 70s. Why there wasn't a berm/artificial island or the like protecting the pier is difficult to understand. I'm sure there'll be urgent checks for an y similar instances across the globe in the coming days.
