NZ scrum which had Ireland on skates at times is getting reamed by South Africa early on.
Will be our biggest barrier to any rwc success.

Re: If the Rugby World Cup was tomorrow…

Who would be the one team who you’d be nervous for your own team to face, based off current form? For me as an Irish fan I’d still say New Zealand because they’ll have likely sacked Foster and will want revenge. Otherwise it’d be SA. France and South Africa are the teams Ireland will want to avoid....

Re: IRE in NZ - ABs 2-9-16 July - Maori 29/6 & 12/7

A few things I’m interested in seeing play out this evening: 1) Set Piece - With NZ restored to an 8 man pack will they reassert their dominance at scrum and lineout? Or have Ireland figured out their issues? For me this was the biggest factor in NZ getting on top in the first match. 2) Fatigue - Ir...

Speed of ruck ball isn’t a job solely for the forwards. It’s a 1-15 attitude. French teams have huge success in slowing down Irish teams because everyone from loose head to fullback attacks the ruck.

Re: IRE in NZ - ABs 2-9-16 July - Maori 29/6 & 12/7

New Zealand’s pack has not been the problem in this series. Lineout has been better then Ireland’s and their scrum dominating until they went down to 7 forwards. They’ve repelled Ireland’s maul with ease. It was NZ forwards who turned the tide in the first test by getting on top at scrum and lineout...

Would have preferred Frawley on the bench over Joey, 1. To give Joey a boot up the hole to focus him. 2. To see how Frawley would deal with it, I reckon he's a very calm guy and it wouldn't phase him at all. I’m all for boots up holes but when we’re looking at what might literally be the last ever ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

4 big differences between the first two tests. 1) Sexton went off after 20 mins in first test. We all know the drop down to Joey. 2)Lineouts - NZ competed well in both matches but we had more movement this time around which eased the pressure on Sheehan who had 3 overthrows in the first test. Hansen for Earls the only change then. A few lads have a point to prove this week . . . . You can make all the tactical adjustments you want, improve your line speed, make selection changes etc., but it all will count for nothing when you go backwards at almost every scrum. Furlong and porter’s scrummaging are the weakest link on the Irish team and holding then back. The rest of their ga...

Here’s how I expect Saturday to go. Early cheap shot by Sam Cane on Sexton sees sexton limp off missing the rest of the tour. Sowakula's try drives me mental. In rugby we pick a backline based on their attacking abilities. Then when defending a scrum on our goalline we also line them up also based on their attacking capabilities. It's absolutely f**king mental. Obviously Henshaw should be tasked with tackling the 8 and Ca...
