Re: Your favourite player.

Caucau is the most gifted rugby player that ever drew breath. He made test teams look like under 12’s. Indeed, he was so good it almost made NZ Rugby forsake its role as Spiritual Guardians of Rugby by attempting to select him. Lucky nothing like that ever happened before or since. Never looked lik...

Schalk Burger. All or nothing. Gave his body for the cause. Came back from the dead and had to re-invent himself as a player, still did well. From all accounts also a top bloke. Saw him at the Holy Grail with McGOAT and JDV, all ripped off their heads. Blokes and birds were approaching them all the...

Good to see someone is keeping it real - https://www.rugbypass.com/news/the-all-blacks-consistently-fail-against-teams-that-can-tackle-the-truth-about-bledisloe-ii/ He's quite right, the ABs are too reliant of moments of individual brilliance and can't cope when someone snuffs out the x-factor play...

Re: Fozzie Out

I think Clarke has to start again...even if to give Hooper another go at his nuts. Seriously though, Foster has to reward him for what was an outstanding game. I'm not sold on Jordie on the wing, perhaps there is some latitude there to put Reiko in his place. I think Clarke has cemented that jersey...

Re: Your favourite player.

Dougie Howlett About 2009 or so I was at a post-match function after a WF/Blues game. Few big names there - wasn’t a bad Blues side. One of the WF players had a word to Dougie (that he was my favourite, etc.) and he came over to my table, introduced himself and chatted for about 15 mins - lovely fe...

Bruce Robertson. Such elegance and grace, combined with ball skills and searing pace. I had the good fortune to meeting him when I was his interpreter at a dinner with some senior muppets from the JRFU and he was great to talk to. Re: Fozzie Out

I don't think we will see Oz miss 41 tackles in a game again. Some of those breaks (Clarke, Barrett and Perenara stand out in my memory) were far batter than they should have been because Aussie fell like flies. Also, if Tomua stays on Oz would have been a lot better. In short - we got lucky but we...

Agreed. I had a strong preference for Razor but it will be a very long two years to wait for him to take the position if you can’t acknowledge where progress is being made and where there are some positives. Delighted with how the tight five copied with the loss of Whitelock and all his experience....

Re: Wallabies v All-Blacks - Bledisloe II - Official Match Thread

For me ABs only marginally better - of which half was Clarke. One step up in aggression (2 for Pat) across the board was good to see but they were not good enough to put away a number of points. Aus were good, marginally off last week. I liked the intensity just after half - good half time chat. I ...

I love the idea of having a bloke with serious wheels at 13. But he was next to useless last week. He's too classy to be left out when fit but he has some serious work ons.

Re: Fozzie Out

TY MOG for some sanity. The ABs have not had a dominant forward pack (tight 5) for a few years. We defended well. Australia played well and they would have put many points on many sides with the mood they were in yesterday. I'm not the biggest fan of Fozzie either but it's sad to see the critics wi...

Re: Wallabies v All-Blacks - Bledisloe II - Official Match Thread

I just can't see an AB win. No penetration in the midfield, no beast ball running forwards, just going to be another massive defensive effort to try and stay in the game and keep it close. fudge me. Like we have never won a game before with that midfield. I thought you were an All Black supporter? ...

Only positives from that is we had no ball and possession and managed a draw, and Caleb Clarke. If he gets the ball in the last couple of plays on the line, he scores.

Re: Players whose form fell off a 'cliff'?

I was pretty salty when Piuatu left as I personally believe he was the best back to come out of Blues/Auckland in the 2010s, but then you see his family situation and you have to respect it. No one is going to turn down a 2x (or more) salary increase for doing the same job. I wouldn't. How many of ...

JC not so much, but So'oialo is a great call. He went from hero to zero nearly as quickly as Julian Savea.
