Ah would you go away with the distance thing. We get slammed by duty here. Easy to compare the prices of a bother in Tesco here and the UK to see them price differential. The government is very open about it. We just tax wine and spirits a massive amount compared to other countries. Our tax on wine...

You have to be in the humour for a barolo, big wine I think it's more a case that most taste tests among joe soaps show a preference for wines of a certain range.
