Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Piers O Connor, Bristol centre linked to Connacht by Rugby Inside Line. He's a decent player but we don't need centres. Even with Daly and Farrell leaving we have plenty of options, particularly young players coming through in Forde, Devine and Gavin. They need to be given opportunities next year. W...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Don't really get the outrage over the signing. If the provinces can only bring in 3 NIQ's now, the focus should be on quality. But there should be an emphasis replicated through the provinces. Not every top name has worked out- Kitschoff at Ulster and Muliania at Connacht to name 2 off the top of my...

Looks like Big Stu has the hump with Ferris. Feels a bit needy. https://twitter.com/Stuart_Mc12/status/1779251455171379685 Spot on from McCloskey. Ferris is over the top with his comments on Ulster at times, constantly with the ‘it wasn’t like that in my day’ tone. Actually like his analysis outsid...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Devine in one line break has done more than Blade in months Fact. Looked very lively bar one loose pass on the attack. Jennings offered way more threat at 15 than TOH too. Only positive out of that is seeing lots of young homegrown lads out there at the end- both Murrays, Devine, Jennings, De Buitl...

Reilly has one more year I believe. Seems another waste of resources to have a 4th senior 9 though when none are internationals. Was hoping to see Devine push Blade next year. Wonder will we keep McElroy, he’s looked decent

It'll be interesting to see if it means he'll be backup 13 to an SOB in his natural position should that Frisch lad leave. He was almost good enough to get capped a few years back but similar to Thornbury (also leaving) he just had an awful habit of getting a lengthy injury when momentum was buildi...

Didn’t realise McElroy was only 26. Matthew Burke is a loosehead. Also leaving afaik, after a great breakout year a couple of years ago he hasn’t kicked on at all.

Great business. Excellent player Was nearly certain he was off myself in all honesty with the belt-tightening. A really positive signing since he arrived so great to have him stick around. Had some good offers from France so great business all round. Had heard that, thought it was Fainga’a all over...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Molony leaving should open up a lot of URC game time for Deeny, Soroka and COT. Don't particularly rate Deeny, although he was decent at the weekend. Soroka could be more of a 6 and is always injured. COT, too young to tell. Molony will be a big loss, coming into his prime years. Still, can underst...

How much of an impact is the reduced number of URC games having on the Ulster squad do you think? Back in 2018/19 and the few years before that, there were 21 games and then play-offs, with games played through the 6N. Those games played when the internationals were unavailable were great opportuni...

Hugh Gavin, Cathal Forde, John Devine over the past couple of years. Centre factory in Connacht. Now let’s make sure we get them gametime. The likes Tom Daly and Tom Farrell have done very well for us but we need to make room and promote the youth.

Munster are signing Diarmuid Kilgallen from Connacht. Shame to lose someone who's come through the academy and at 23, could be a future international. Poor enough to let Bristol have nearly all the second half 22 territory but a win is a win. Pardon the pun but could Shayne Bolton be a potential bolter given we’re very thin on the wing. It’s a shame he’s had lots of injury problems ov...

Busby and the gang had a mare. Ralston decision was wrong, missed Ralston with a high tackle on Zebo late on, should've checked the Conor Murray challenge to Niall Murray, missed what I thought was an extremely reckless bang to Denis Buckley from Loughman and a dangerous clearout on Hansen. You're ...

Looks like Mack could be gone for the 6 nations. Connacht decimated in the back 3 with Hansen, Smith, TOH, Cordero, Porch and Kilgallen all out. Jennings playing Sevens. Shayne Bolton was excellent last night, glad we stuck with him and gave him a new contract. A different option, big and powerful. ...

That was nasty on Hanson. Fûcked him. Yep, tough physical game though in bad conditions and it happens. Thornbury was out for a very long time so maybe it's part of the plan. I can't see there being a falling out there, after all Connacht did give him a new contract just after he got the long term injury.
