Who says NZ is obsessed with sailing? https://youtu.be/K1Md20KNs98 TBF, if the Aussies hadn't of won the Americas Cup in the 80s we probably wouldn't have bothered. Some great footage of the original plastic fantastic that thrilled us in 1987. But you're absolutely right. It was the Aussies winning...

I tell you that Brits will be really interested in sailing if Ben Ainslie pulls off the big dance.....and although unpatriotic of me to say, wouldnt be too upset if they did..........they and the US started the whole shebang. Yeah in these light, flakey breezes it's like watching a cripple fight when neither yacht can foil but kudos to Luna Rossa and Ineos UK who both handled it better than the US boat.

Well Luna Rossa can either handle the light conditions better or Spithill and his crew just raced a smarter race than USA picking the wind pressure on the course. Maybe a bit of both? Will be interesting to see how USA competes with the UK boat which is supposedly the weakest in the light breezes.

For clarity, what are tuatua and kahawai, and what is a rahui? A rahui is also often imposed after a tragedy. For example if there is a drowning in a river there will often be a rahui (temporary ban) placed on recreational activities in that section of the river. It's out of respect for the deceased.
