Re: John Mitchell to coach the Bulls - Confirmed
Big letdown for me, I think Mitchell did an incredible job here in the States. I was frustrated with the Eagles and I quit following them under the Tolkin era. The team looked a thousand percent better under Mitchell. I wish USA Rugby had some huge benefactor and we could keep Mitchell. Best of luc...

It's all a big sham and we'll see the Lions' midfield savaged as they will all be seagulling out on the wing waiting for the kick pass.Toro wrote:

2. Josh Mann-Rea (Brumbies) Nah, he was capped for the Kiwis years ago... I remember his last test in Bizzy . Nick White just needed to grind the ball through a couple of phases and put it in the stands and he panicked and gave the ABs a great lineout position and Fekitoa scored at the death.

Where do the stats the feed into this model come from if I may ask, are they available to the public? I just wrote a script or two to scrape them off ESPN into a cloud database. They tweak them slightly so that people can't do it for gambling databases, but I figure it's close enough for the player...

They do actually take factors like the opposition in the match stats were generated into account. But your point is well taken. There are many aspects in which reality and statistics are tenuously related.Mog The Almighty wrote: They're fundamentally flawed because don't take the team or the opposition into account.

1 to 8 is actually OK! 9 to 15 x( Hey dt678, how are you scoring the back 3 players? We've discussed in other threads that the official stats give ludicrously high 'carrying' stats to back 3 players (and 8's), seemingly because they count catches from up and unders and then runs from that point to ...

Final Player Ratings for the Six Nations
From the match statistics: http://www.rugby.net/s/Pm6ekm0Nw88 There is something of a statistical anomaly in the last iteration, with French and Welsh players moving up. The rating algorithm takes playing time into account and with those players logging up to 102 minutes last weekend, they all get a...

Great route and send, dt678! I Googled it and it is one of the New England classics! Yes - one of those sustained, slightly overhung routes with no proper rests and some pretty thin moves guarding the chains. There are definitely harder bits on it but no real lights-out, shut down moves. It is said...

I turn 50 on Saturday and I decided a month ago that I wanted to send this climb before I reached that milestone. "Eyeless in Gaza" (5.12b/7b) - still a lot of snow on the ground here so we had to slog in with snowshoes but I sent it last Sunday.

Haha - I remember this thread. So when the Chiefs started doing it was when the refs started talking about a 1m bubble (or it was of some dimension). Otherwise the defending side could just run around and fish the ball out of the non-ruck, no? So you ended up with the scrumhalf going and standing be...

The fact the ref just didn't bother applying any laws when the ball was on the floor doesn't mean jackalling is dead. It seemed a conscious decision to not seriously contest over the ball. Whether it was a case of playing to the ref or the personnel not being in place to support those tactics both ...
