Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Lancaster will have fun coaching those Connacht backs. Some very talented players there. Problem for him will be doing it with a Connacht forward pack that will struggle for parity in a lot of games. Defensively a lot of work needed as well. Article says that Lancaster will coach the defence himself...

He's been poor since his return from injury. Has been excellent for Connacht the last few games he's played for them. The Munster game and Racing game. Been shut down for the season so probably a sign he was going to be selected. He's continued to mix the awful with the great and on the test match ...

Hansen is mad. I'm not even sure he's in the top two wingers in Ireland. Waboso would have been ahead of him if fit. Graham should have been ahead of him on talent. Hansen was getting back to form there recently. Not surprised he was picked. Farrell loves that playmaking winger type. He's been poor...

I wouldn’t fancy tackling Herbie Boyle now. Let alone when he’s a grown man. A ball of muscle.

Not a great way to finish the 6N. Ireland don’t know where they are really. And their next serious game with all the front liners is against NZ in Chicago. Most obviously won’t tour Georgia and Portugal during the Summer.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Have we discussed our crippling lack of pace and attacking edge out wide yet? Who are the good wingers in Ireland? Lowe, Hansen and who else? (Stockdale isn't what he was, before the Ulster lads chime in.) Bolton is probably the main Lowe replacement. Big, strong and decent pace. Don't think he has...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

He is definitely not lacking pace. He definitely lacks acceleration which is what’s important in general play. Yeah, Prendergast doesn't seem very quick off the mark at all but he actually has decent pace when he's up into his stride as seen when he was chasing Penaud at the end there. His tall spi...

We love a bit of self flagellation after a loss. Lowe is our most irreplaceable player right now. Single source of our best attacks. Unlike other key players there is not anyone who can do a good impression on a pinch. He's also 33 in July. The sobering thought it what is this Ireland team going to...

The only Irish test starters might be GIbson Park, Lowe, Aki and Doris. Aki was pants today - He shouldn't be starting for the Lions. He got a knock early in the game. Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Feels like we perform these days depending on how JGP, Aki and Lowe play. JGP was average. Aki I don’t think ever recovered fully from that early knock and was taken off. And Lowe didn’t even play. Our depth at wing is paper thin and needs to be addressed. Coming away from the first 15 minutes with ...

It was a bad day at the office and an understrength Ireland side but no need to panic. A few players retiring now. Definitely some youngsters need to be introduced over the next 12 months.
