Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Best was probably the most overrated Irish player of the professional era. Nutjob, missed tackles left right and center (although he sporadically tempered that absence of technical ability with a big physical collision), and about as subtle on the deck as a foghorn at a funeral. Wouldn't want him an...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Jordi Murphy will move on to England or Connacht if he's lucky. Jennings will slow down. Whoever is better between Ruddock and McLaughlin will stay, I'd guess McLaughlin right now. Loser will get shipped off to some hellhole like Limerick or Galway. Leinster will be in an ideal position then. They'l...

When talking about the England job Wayne Smith said he didn't apply because he doesnt think he's suitable to a head coaching role (as well as he didn't like the job description). Why has he then turned around and applied for the Munster job? I know nothing about this Penny chap but he seems to have...

Kaino to Ulster was never a possibility. Wannenberg messed up a little bit. He turned down a 2 year deal at the beginning of the season, he probably wasn't expecting all that was to follow from the IRFU and with Wilson returning. Shot himself in the foot a bit. I think he's better than Wilson but I ...

McGrath clearly has mechanical issues with his passing. You don't even have to have any knowledge of the game to see that (as I can attest to having brought my elderly aunt to the 20s game in Wycombe). Luckilly its something that can be taught. Id rather that than the flaws some of our other scrum h...

Fairly sure Leinster will just be selecting 8 replacements from those 9. Coughlan-Murray is carrying a knock for sure from Ireland duty.
As for D'Arcy, I think he'd perform far better if the Enforcer would just select someone else (ie Wallace) at 12 and give him a kick up the hole.

If Bowe had allowed himself to be held up we would have had a 5 metre scrum. I'm not saying he was wrong I'm just saying the use of the penalty was very nearly a profit either way. If Damien Browne plays this well injured then he'll surely be brought back. Hopefully with a clean bill of health he could be a real asset.
Cullen is very clearly slowing down but a Browne/Toner 2nd row has a lot going for it.

I think Faloon hasn't developed the way it was hoped he would. He's never going to be a good H Cup option for Ulster barring a miracle. Jaysus so many centers in Ulster.
Marshall/Farrell as 12s and Cave/Spence as 13s. Oldest of them is 24!
If Ulster schools keep producing centers at this rate Connacht/Munster will surely benefit!
