Maddocks looks like he could bring a lot to the attack out wide. Ditto for Wright.
The young centre pairing was solid without showing much creativity

Re: Dan Palmer

He was our next great hope in the front row at a time when stocks were typically thin. After the injuries and going offshore he just dropped off the map. At that time his name came up often here, mostly through Australian posters looking for scrum redemption. He obviously had a lot going on. Good lu...

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

Banks has been solid under the high ball and his line kicking has been good but he has offered nothing in attack. DHP gets a shot now. I’m not his greatest fan but he has been pretty good at test level to date. One of Banks or Maddocks needs to take their opportunity. I think it will be Maddocks. He...

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

Reece Hodge is the back up 10? Dude I hate to say it, but I've been saying this for months. His strengths are his cannon-ball boot and that he can fill almost any position in the backline, including fly-half. It's a big feather in his cap. It's not ideal obv., but he could slot in there in a...

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

Agreed. Not sure how Gordon even made the squad.
We have White and Powell who both have test experience and then Tate McDermott, who I think we all agree will be the most likely next long term Wallaby half back.

Gordon was meh in the last two tests.

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

It’s a very tough break to have both Toomua and JOC injured at the same time forcing them to have to go to debuting a 10 and 12 at the same time. We really need the pack to stand up and give them some time. It will be interesting for sure. Hopefully JOCs injury is not too bad. It’s going to be sink ...

Interesting. I like McReight and Tate to finish. There is a lot of youth in that 23 so Simmons gets a reprieve. It must have been tempting to go with Hosea as well.

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

I'm not sure taking our best fly-half out of fly-half to be replaced by a promising debutant who has (I believe) mostly played inside center is a very good idea. Although Lolosio did play well at fly half in Super Rugby. I think 10. JOC, 12. Lolosio is the way to roll personally. He only played 12 ...

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

Simone to 12 and Lolesio on the pine covering 10-12 is the least disruptive but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Paisami start at 12 now they have had 2 weeks to bed in the new centre partnership. Simone and Petaia are a much bigger 12/13 than Toomua and Paisami. Could go either way. Rennie doesn’t gi...

Re: Wallabies 2020 thread

I don’t see him giving us a better presence at the breakdown, the lineout or improving our tackle percentages. He was Ok but not better than Wilson or Samu at 8.
I can see him spelling Wilson at some point, probably against the Argies.

I think that our forwards have been very physical in the last two tests. The key is doing that and being accurate in what you do. Matt Philip and LSL have both been fantastic, better than the NZ locks IMHO.
We have a young and largely inexperienced side, particularly in the pack. It will come.
