Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Thats only because most of the decent kiwi 10s have departed. We are improving no doubt but are still not quite there. Our only test quality 10 here at home is Lolesio and he doesn’t really set the house on fire. He is steady and with a decent 9, 12 and 15 he is a good option. Gordon and Donno are g...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Kerevi is a good call if he is fitter than last year. Issac Henry was looking the goods but understand he is out for the year. Is that right? We saw how imbalanced a Gordon/Kervei combo was last year. Samu much more suited to running of the likes of Lolesio or one of the old blokes in Japan. Foketi ...

Re: Bondi Junction Shooting
I am originally from just up the road in Waverley and was there all last week getting a grease and oil change and checking the ticker. I’m not sure how such an incident could be avoided and hopefully it does not spawn more of the same by copycat loons.
It’s rough for all affected. Sad days.

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Gordon had a good game outside of one shanked goal attempt. Another good performance from the Rebels all around. Daugunu shines again at 13.

Re: Waratahs vs Crusaders Match Thread
The Tahs should probably start Harrison and see what he can do for the rest of the season. Edmed does his best and puts in but is barely soup standard, if that. I would also start Grant and Teddy Wilson. Sinclair made some telling plays towards the death as well. Organisation just cannot get unfucke...

Re: Waratahs vs Crusaders Match Thread
Fascinating thread :uhoh: Harrison straight to the front of the queue. No chance. He still is a little suspect in contact. However his attacking play and goal kicking is top notch. I’d pick him before Gordon on these alone however I would also have Lolesio and Lynagh ahead of him. Our 10 must kick ...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
At this stage Speed Tool in and Marky Mark out. In his defence, nothing the Tahs are doing right now looks convincing and I am sure that many of them are well below there best. Is it worth looking at shifting Lenny Ikitau in a spot? He would make a great 12. Henry was shaping up nicely as a classic...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Indeed As for Swinton, I thought he went OK in a beaten pack. Thats Australian rugbys problem. “They went well in a beaten pack/side”. Both Valetini and Cole are way ahead of Swinton at this stage. And there are others. Wright, Wilson etc etc I hate to disagree with you but far from being ‘Australi...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
A Holloway/Smith back row will get dusted. More likely Frost to start and Swain on the bench. Not sure who to start on the other side. Holloway is serviceable but by no means a walk up starter. We need a big angry tight head lock with skills.

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
I’m not certain that Marky Mark gets a run? We have a lot of promising youth coming through in the back 3 with little time to blood them between now and the Lions.
9 and 10 will be the interesting ones. Faessler has to be first choice at 2 right now with Porecki to show his wares when he returns.

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Toole will be fine. He has crazy speed and is actually pretty solid in contact. He doesn’t shirk the hard work and always goes looking for the ball. Petaia is looking good again but he still spills the ball every now and then for no apparent reason. Needs to carry the pill differently. McReight a ve...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Gordon and Donaldson? What are you all drinking? Eddie, is that you you little fluff bunny? Wright is a good call as it gives the backrow an excellent lineout option but hard to squeeze both him and Frasier McR. in there. Cale looks interesting as a backrow option as well. Maybe at 6 with Bobby V at...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Toole is a must. His defence has been a step up on Marky Marks performance on the weekend. He missed a few in Fiji. Toole has also been pretty good in contact along with scoring tries that are not really there. He also has the speed to chase down anyone in the game.

Perese gorne. Can’t blame him as he might be a little down the list at OC right now. Good player but needs to refine his game, handling in particular. Hard as nails and will go well in England.

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Gordon cant kick for goal or the line consistently and once again the Rebels are guilty of going to the boot too often and too early. At least Lolesio has some test experience, is showing some consistency with the boot and following the game plan for the Brums, as are both Queensland 10s. I don’t h...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
And Schmidt is talking about hard work and consistency trumping pure talent.
“Hard work and consistency bake the cake and talent is the cream on top”
Its a change in ethos that Oz rugby has had to make for a long time but couldn’t.
Quade will fit right in if he is still up to it.

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
One of those Queensland lads has started one SR game at flyhalf - neither of them are near ready to play test rugby. Why do we insist on throwing promising players to in the deep end and then write them off when they fail? Australian rugby people used to be smart. I dont think they should be thrown...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Carter Gordon. I’m not sure who else could it be. He still cannot kick. He must be well below the likes of Lolesio and the two Queensland lads. Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Here is my team vs Wales based on the season so far. No overseas picks, that's too hard basket, and with the state of Wales, hopefully unnecessary. 1. Bell (first name on team sheet, and not because of his number) 2. Faessler (daylight second. Hope Porecki comes back and gives him some competion). ...

I had seats on the halfway line at the SFS in 2001. Was a spectacular game. I would guess that Schmidt will have us competitive but unlikely to win the series, as per usual.

Re: OFFICIAL" Reds are too lazy to start a Chiefs thread" thread
That was a late no arms unsighted shot at his sternum. Yellow card all day. It was late but I’m on the too-many-cards bandwagon. Penalty was right call. Anyway, it’s good for the young bloke to take that treatment and get through the other side. He did him a favour. I thought he did well to get up....

Re: OFFICIAL" Reds are too lazy to start a Chiefs thread" thread
Pity it wasn't a night for excellent refereeing. I thought the refs were very positive in all 3 games I watched this morning. Added to great spectacles. I wonder how positive Tom Lynagh feels today. He was absolutely pole-axed, late. That was a late no arms unsighted shot at his sternum. Yellow car...

We have to build now towards the Lions series and I reckon it’s time to bring these young guys through. Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Gordon might get somewhere with a good coach. Lolesio is a super level player only. Lolesio has the potential to be a solid, squad player but he’s not the starting flyhalf of a top test team. None of the 10s are test standard. Barely SR standard Which is why the smarter coaches were looking at Quad...

Re: Wallabies 2024 (2023 never happened)
Gordon gets nowhere near it.
I would go Lonergen and one of the Reds boys. The other and Tate as the backups.
When I say world class I mean blokes like Bobby V and TT and Lenny Ikitau. Players who can play at any level and would be at home in most test sides.
