Exactly Auckman, clearly the talent is there in Samoa but the pathway isn't as good as in Fiji (even before the drua were in supeerugby)
Fiji have the potential to be a brilliant test team. Samoa and Tonga should be pretty good too.

Re: How long until Moana Pasifika fold?
I never really got them to be honest. Supposed to benfit Samoa and Tonga yet all their players are kiwis who qualify due to heritage who'd play all blacks if they were good enough and controlled by NZ rugby. I think Samoa needs a team like drua to give their local players a pathway.

Re: Update: Ireland move to #1 spot
But Ireland only have 4 pro teams of any sport dont they? Per capita, that is one pro team per 1.75m people (7m people if you include NI, which rugby does). So compare that to say Australia that has 18 AFL teams, 16 NRL teams, 11 A-league teams, 7 basketball teams, 8 cricket teams (big bash), 5 rug...

Re: Update: Ireland move to #1 spot
Rugby has become popular because Ireland have been successful it's sort of filled a gap of pro sport in the country but it has an awful long way to go to compare to the other sports at grassroots level Rugby is the 18th ranked sport in Australia in terms of junior participation. You've included ind...

Looking at this there are about 150 clubs in Chile
If that is accurate surely Chile are a potential sleeping giant ? Way more clubs than the likes of portugal

Keenan
Baloucoune
Lowe
In the back three. Stockdale unlucky to miss out but Lowe has played really well recently. He adds a lot to our play

Re: Update: Ireland move to #1 spot
The Irish sporting landscape is a bit unusual. The 3 biggest team sports by participation have are Gaelic Football, Soccer and Hurling probably in that order. Rugby is 4th and sports like Cricket, Basketball and Hockey have small but not insignificant participation and structures. The GAA have the b...

Re: Kiwi Commentators
There's a difference between commentators and analysts. I think Justin Marshall does a good job between the two, as does Alan Quinlan in Ireland. I feel sorry for Justin Marshall having to go back into a studio the next day after a few beers with Sir JK and Jeff Wilson. His instinct is to tell it l...

Kendellen is ready for senior rugby right now
Soroka, Boyle, Sheridan and all the outside backs have been good
Wales look like they've picked 8 props in their pack

Thanks for posting this..nice to see it.
Ive been worried about tonga and samoa for a while, relying on their diaspora for loads of players and hardly any locals. Hopefully this turns into helping develop local players.
Id say there some gem players there who could go pro

Re: The emasculation of England's scrum
Not exactly helped by the attitude of their props. Every time a decision goes against them they moan to the ref, stupid smiles, shake the head and eyes to the sky...just pisses the ref of more. More than getting dominated against us they just got on the wrong side of the ref. They obviously still fa...

England calling for a scrum when 20 points down with 15 minutes was seriously dumb rugby....france did the same thing with wales at the end but got lucky.

Congrats though you will still win the championship

No excuses here. Wales are brilliant. They have some great albeit aging players, lethal backs who can score tries with shit ball and a never say die hard as nails attitude where they just keep going through the pain barrier no matter what. They wouldnt ever crumble under pressure and give in like en...

We are going to pummel England. Biggest Victory since croker 07. England's top players are fat, out of form and past it, they havent recovered psychologically from their rwc beasting by the boks.

Agree with that mvp except think your outside chance list should be an almost no chance list. Better options elsewhere.
