Re: Stupid laws world rugby have created in recent years

Yeah it hasn't stopped it entirely obviously but I do feel it's not as common. Anyway either way a 5m scrum is way too big a reward for messing up an attack imo, if one doesn't like the drop out are there any other alternatives? If teams are held up in a maul in the field, they lose possession. It'...

From a quick skim through lineups, I make BOD the oldest back to play in a Test for the Lions during the pro era. He was 34. Bundee Aki will be 35 by the time the tour of Australia begins.

Is this not just a money thing? Wales had the same complaints in the past. Don't pay Premiership Rugby, don't get the players. No? There hasn't been a law change. What Dupont/Toulouse seem to have been able to persuade refs into after years of the Laws being the same is that only players who actually have to retreat behind an imaginary 10m line from where the ball lands from a kick are captured by Law 10.4c. On the live footage, the whistle blows after Tuilagi stops moving. On the replays, Tuilagi is still moving when the ball comes off the foot.

Wales looked good against Scotland in the second half, its not that clear cut. Scotland were absolutely knackered and completely capitulated. You need an eye test - as is clear in the footage, and as Nigel Owens said in commentary, he didn't touch Fickou's neck so there is no infringement. The standing still thing would be solved if the previous kicker made some effort to chase up and bring his team onside, no? That don't want to though. They've got players to pressure max 10 metres away from where the ball has landed, forwards getting a rest in midfield and are keeping their kickers...

Good defence by Italy in the end It was. Hint of a high shot on Casey (not that it's that difficult) but they've not given us anything easy. You have to retreat to 10m away from where ball lands as it is. I'm still confused as to what's suddenly changed other than the kicking team deciding not to put pressure on the receiving team. Berry could have stuck his head in the pile of bodies to actually see where the ball finished up. He could have communicated more clearly with his TMO eg "I've got the ball held up on the yellow boot of a French player" would have given the TMO more to work as to what the original decision was based...
