God Lacey Swindon is dumb. Well that’s his Wallaby chances gone. Got a red in his debut v All Blacks in Brisbane last year. He’ll be ok. If he is available for selection, I think he will still be in the team. Anyone, including the selector, can see there wasn't really much in that although the righ...

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

Tell me again why Swinton should be a Wallaby. He's big, strong, aggressive, has a huge engine, he's young with a huge future in front of him, he never takes a step backwards, a complete blind-side flanker that can also cover lock and eight, a good line-out jumper and goes at 100% for 90 minutes. S...

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

Swinton will be lucky if that’s not Red. I think that was pretty harsh to be honest. Might seem inconsistent with my previous post on the tackle, but it was very different in that Swinton was angling downwards, with low body height and the other guy with sitting on the ground. It's not like either ...

nobody missed tackle, they just weren't there to make the tackle. Whatever his name for the Chiefs has basically walked in four tries. He hasn't had to work too hard for any of them. Sadly, Marky Mark is a cat on D ... and not the only one. They are just a team of too many youngsters not ready for ...

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

It doesn't matter that it's head on head, it doesn't matter that you're taller than the attacking player. Those things are irrelevant. If you go into a tackle bolt-upright and make contact with the player's head, you are responsible. I'm not saying I like it, I'm just saying I can get the logic and ...

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

I really think the defensive problem is a matter of coaching and strategy more than individuals. Of course they're not tackling awesome or anything, but a lot of the tries haven't been a result of any particular missed tackle. Take the first one as an example, nobody missed tackle, they just weren't...

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

Seemed a pretty harsh call really.

But it's true that there's been way too many close-up shots of Whetton blowing up over some refereeing decision. That's a pretty bad smell.

Re: Waratahs vs Chiefs: MATCH THREAD: Sat 12th June

Damn. I was hoping for a match. Buy a lighter or give up smoking, FFS  Because a simple through the hands play to the wing off first phase for a converted try in 90 seconds just bodes oh-so-well for a close, thrilling game. I hope they provide one regardless but let's not pretend it looks good.

Still could be a little bit interesting watching Swinton make his final statement in a bid for a Wallaby jersey.

Pretty sure he's get one regardless although Valetini is the obvious first choice.

It was completely pathetic.

They didn't even do anything. Just "through the hands to the wing".

What a joke.

The commentators trying to talk it up as something special.

Not a bad 'tahs jersey, although as usual would be immensely improved with the addition of a collar to differentiate it from a cycling jersey.

C'mon bro. We all know what the saying means non-literally: "play by the rules, don't be a dick". Fair enough. But you have to admit that if we're being literal, you're not playing the ball when you clean out someone from a ruck. Instead of just conceding that, you come up with some convoluted argu...

Haven't read the thread as I'm just watching the replay now. I just have to vent that yellow against Daugunu is probably the worst card I've seen all season. What are the referees thinking there?
