Re: RIP Larry King - Covid?

Tributes have poured in for "legendary" US talk show host Larry King, who has died just weeks after contracting COVID-19. The 87-year-old TV star was taken to hospital in Los Angeles in late December after testing positive for coronavirus - and died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. King, whose caree...

Time wasting - time penalties?

Has this ever been considered? Already players are penalised for throwing the ball away from a penalty situation or line out, to avoid the chance of a quick tap or line out. I know that I have mentally encouraged my team sitting on a slender lead to slow it down, eg taking the full time allowance fo...

Rock n Roll Suicide  Sounds like a song that has a bit of meaning (for you) attached to it as well. All the better. Thankfully not because of a suicide. I was about 12 when I first heard it. The albums Ziggy Stardust and Transformer had a massive influence on me about 50 years ago. 70’s Bo...

It's all about the lack of exercise. When I was a teen, I worked a summer job that required lots of physical work. I ate 2 huge meals each night at around 5pm and 11pm, and I was in the best shape of my life. I suggest that you read ‘Real food on trial’ in which Tim Noakes, a South African ultra ma...

Re: Why are ozzies such porkers?

I grew up watching home and away and ozzie athletes performing above and beyond what their per capita clout should have earned. All bronzed, athletic demi-gods and such like. So why is such a large percentage of the population absolute porkers? It seems so contradictory to how people perceive the p...

I’m at the venue for my support group’s meeting and wanted to comment on something Joe Biden said last night. He and his wife and M/M Harris were at the Lincoln Pond the previous night to light up a memorial to the 400,000+ deaths due to covid19, with 400 8ft-tall lamps along the length of the pond...

Re: Why are ozzies such porkers?

The dietary guidelines, as in the UK and US, are still demonising fat, especially saturated fat, and pushing ‘healthy’ complex carbohydrate, making carbohydrates 55-60% of the calories. Looks as if the guidelines are being followed.

I'm more concerned about what the Trump supporters will do moving forward. Does anyone really think that, even when he's out of office, it'll stop them stirring up trouble? Snobbery. Being comfortable is an option, but god help you if you don’t look good. What is the punishment for these fashion criminals? Being unfashionable. Same as it ever was. For those for whom it isn’t a problem it isn’t a problem. It only seems to be a problem for those that don’t like it.

Bad luck mate, and ouch! My own personal battle against vermin is to drive over a rat whenever I see one on the road. Every BMI thread has a comment about body fat %age, and another about muscle mass. Why not just say ‘Look at me! I’ve lost weight, fatty!’ There is a serious point to be made, actually. Should we rely on the BMI as a measure, or not? It’s useful, but most people don’t need it to know if they are to...
