Re: Nigel says that Gareth Thomas should have had red

Christ. You really are desperate to paint this as some kind of Aussie victory. Sure, chief. You have that one. Despite the Welsh pack clearly going forward and your captain popped out like a dog's lipstick, your lads bossed that scrum. Fully had us on the ropes. Minor miracle we didn't lose by 40. ...

English fans have a great deal of sympathy for yer proper SA fans embarrassed by these ref-whingers - just as they’re not Rugby People, but are an increasing irritant for all proper RP, seffrican or otherwise, we have the Barbour bray brigade as our equivalent. I like the cheeky little blocks and shirt tugs, to delay someone for a second, but high level refs are just getting too good at spotting them.

Re: Definitive proof Tompkins didn't knock-on

There is a valid reason for having the law. Back in the 90s it was something you would see from time to time; a centre actively reaching out and consciously slapping the ball forward out of the air. As recently as the 00’s I played a game where I had to ask the ref to do something because the oppos...

A quick search shows that the deliberate knock on was put into the laws in 1899. Still don’t agree with it though. No mention of deliberate slap down or knock down mind you, only knock on. As long as knock down is in common usage, there will be idiots that misinterpret it, same as with double movement.

There is no offence of deliberate knock down Quite, I find the fuss being made about that decision baffling. It categorically didn't go forward. It was a fantastic on field call from the ref. Have a go at your team for not playing to the whistle. The problem here is the tendency for refs to blow an...

Re: Jeff's All New and Uneasy Wales Ratings v Oz

Assuming that refs aren’t usually bribed (if ever) and knowing that refs these days usually get a committee opinion for the big decisions, then we must conclude that most results are fair. Out scoring a team on tries but having fewer points because you missed conversions or were penalised, or becaus...

Re: Cymru Vs Awstralia Offical Match Thread

I may be wrong, but isn’t the offence deliberate knock ON, not down, the way that there is no offence of double movement. Yes it’s pedantic but so are refs. Beale’s deliberate act hit the ball forward, Tomkins’ deliberate act didn’t hit the ball forward, so no offence, play on.
