Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread

That's absolutely not true, at all. Earl has 18 England caps, and only 6 have been at #8. He got his debut in November 2020, and didn't play 8 for England until August last year. In fact, he's won more caps replacing Underhill (at flanker) from the bench than he has at 8. The only reason he's...

Re: The Official Welsh Rugby Thread

I’m still wavering over whether Scott was our finest 8, because I am a firm believer that your 8 should be a battering ram in Quinnell’s mould… but yes, Taulupe would be my 2nd choice, at worst. Our top 3 over past 50 years are Merv, Scott and Taulupe. A big gap to number 4. I can't even recall who...

Re: **OFFICIAL** English Rugby Thread

I reckon the vast majority of coaches do see specialists, which is why players tend to get picked in the same position every week! There is always the exception to the rule though - a player who can make hay in their non-traditional position. I don't like it when coaches talk about shit like player...

Mercer is too similar to Dommers for me. He's not the sort of workhorse player who's going to shine under Bortherball. Imagine him being asked to truck up static ball off one-out passes all day. Mercer was great, but shout out for Akkerman, who was absolutely brutal in contact on both sides of the ball. Highlights of the game for me were: - McGuigan stopping Barbeary dead in his tracks after a 10m+ runup. Serious power there, and no idea why he's not playing for England. - The camera panni...

Do they have a kiwi captain? Bourgarit. They turned down seven chances to kick for three points. Nuts.
