Re: Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
Scotland a class above this messy Samoan side from this correspondent who was pitchside. Fair play to Samoa who were bigger, fatter, slower and less coordinated, but they never gave up and were rewarded for their endeavour. The score was a fair reflection. Noisy crowd jdawg. It would’ve been bedlam...

Re: Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
Actually there are a few amateurs from Samoan club rugby as well. New coach has a KPI to give some locals a go Admirable but that approach is never going to work against professional teams. There’s a method to this madness. They’re trying to get promising players from the HPU in front of the eyes o...

Scotland 41-12 Samoa - FT
Excellent 60mins from the Scots. Dobie outstanding. Samoa reserves helped keep the score down once all those useless newbies were hooked.

Re: Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
Samoa are appalling, is this close to their strongest team? Nowhere near. There are amateur players in this team plucked out of Sydney club rugby mixing it with pros from all over the world. A consequence of the tragic governance issues and financial 'mismanagement' of the Samoan Union? It’s ...

Re: Wallabies vs B&I Lions - 1st Test - OFFICIAL!!!!!
I thought that welsh flanker, Morgan, should’ve been there somewhere on the bench. I'm surprised he isn't starting TBH. One area I think the Lions haven't been great so far is turning over ball at the breakdown. They have struggled a bit more against teams with a specialist 7 and BOK is the type of...

Re: Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
What kind of crowd are they expecting for this? Will Samoa in Rugby have the same sort of effect as the Samoa and Tonga League teams where big crowds from the diaspora turn out? I can see why people would want this match in Apia but these matches done well could be a big boost even in NZ. Rugby sho...

Re: Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
Good scouting opportunity for MLR and Pro D2 clubs, but I fear Samoa will be up against it between missing players and a lack of cohesion from no prior tests. Anyone know what Samoa's preparation has been like? They’ve been in camp in Auckland for about ten days doing a bit of community engagement ...

He's always seemed like a pretty decent guy to me. Treats people with respect and seems pretty grateful for what he has. Samoa v Scotland - Eden Park - Friday night
Why are they playing at EP? Depending on who you ask, it’s because Apia Park is about to undergo major renovations or it is something to do with the lights being out following the major power blackouts across Upolu earlier this year. Summary: Scotland are obviously a bunch of second stringers as th...

Re: Paul Gallen Vs Sonny Bill Williams
Yeah I saw it again this morning and the best you could say for Gallen is a draw if you’re being charitable. However, the more I look at it the more I think SBW won that on points. There’s also the “look at his battered face” way of deciding things and if we go to that, then SBW won hands down. Anyw...

Like I said one of those other threads, on trips back home I expected the Warriors hype to be off the charts, but when I was in Auckland it wasn't that prevalent. Yes, there's big media hype, but that's down to a bunch of disaffected jounros and media personalities (Paul, Devlin) who death ride rug...

The NRL is really popular in the places it’s played - e.g. the Warriors are much bigger than the Auckland Blues. BS! Yeah ok the Wahs get the crowds when they’re on a good run but they’ve never filled Eden Park. A soldout crowd at Mt Smart is half the crowd size of Eden Park. They had a chanc...

The concept is a pipe dream as it’ll never be at full strength and never be fully prepared. It would’ve been a far better spectacle if they’d played Fiji in Suva (or even in Australia).

I liked SBW the Stan sports guy. Had genuine passion but clearly had a bias for his mates like that guy from Tokoroa. His meltdown over Eddie Jones was quite funny. Was quite limited as a rugby player but still quite useful - especially in the World Cup final. As for this boxing thing, there’s no w...

Re: OFFICIAL AB's V FRANCE 'Can we field the Love tonight" match thread.
I think this test should’ve gone to Whangarei. At the very least, the bay of islands isn’t too far away from there and it’s a rare opportunity to bring a top test team to the great Okara Park.
