Re: Israel declares state of war
Saw a stat the other day that made me sad. 14,000 kids have been killed in Gaza since the Israeli onslaught. They’re just sitting ducks in that place. They can’t even go to a safe zone in Rafah anymore.

Johnson moving ahead with Ukraine aid bill in the House. Pro-Putin Republicans outraged. The bills, taken together, also add up to about $95 billion in aid – the same amount the Senate bill included – with an adjustment that $10 billion in Ukraine economic assistance is in the form of a repayable lo...

I’ve been around, just not posing too much. Somewhat stepped away when a call I made in a game got questioned directly to me on here so figured I’d just lurk a bit more. Hope all is well down your way. Bloody hell. Bringing things from real life to have a personal crack on these forums is very poor...

Shoshanah Seumanutafa (White Rock, BC) – University of British Columbia / Chiefs Manawa Didn’t realise Seumanutafa was with the Manawa. When was this? Never listed in a roster from what I see on their socials. Do they have a wider training group? I'd be a bit embarrassed to have that listed if I ne...

Re: Israel declares state of war
The relatively tame almost limp-wristed response from Iran (slow-moving drones, pre-warned Turkey & Saudi Arabia - ie: pre-warned Israel) is a game of geopolitical chess. They are trying to egg Israel to hit back hard (ie: mass civilian casualties) to really lose the battle of global public opinion ...

Re: Bondi Junction Shooting
Riots ongoing in Fairfield. Crowd outside (clearly outraged by the video which has gone viral) want to lynch the assailant and won’t let the police / ambulance take the him out of the church. It’s gonna be a long night in the SW. One thing I’ve noticed about Sydney in the time I’ve been here is the ...

Re: The Blues returning optimism 2024 Thread
Talking of the Blues lock curse, Suafoa is now out with cancer. Poor bugga. Hopefully he has a swift recovery. https://youtu.be/YTT_dAAyHAA Can't believe he was still playing while undergoing treatment. That would be tough. Probably the best thing for him in dealing with it. Now it gets really toug...

Third different champion in three years. Aupiki Final Highlights
2022 - Chiefs Manawa
2023 - Matatu
2024 - Blues
Chiefs really should’ve won all three but finals footy does funny things to players under pressure.

Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread
Pretty good rugby considering the weather. Well done Blues, pretty big stuff to run them down at the end like that. Some good decisions in the belting rain. I haven’t been a fan of Maliepo for years now but that kick into the chiefs 22 was the play of the year. Put Semple under massive pressure and...

Blues 24-18 Chiefs Manawa - FT
Hard luck Chiefies. Set the standard for so many years. Blues cooler heads prevailed in that final 10mins. Awa must be a BF after that effort. Brilliant. Vahaakolo - made metres every single time. Big game player.

Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread
About the best the Blues can put on the park, although I see Fisher has been dropped entirely out of the match day 23. Itunu gets just reward for a bat storming couple of weeks and deservedly starts. Puckett returns to halfback but Awa has had an excellent season and I wouldn’t have minded her start...

Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread
Chiefsaders seriously pissed that they have to play in Auckland. This is a formidable team. Tubic hasn’t played much top level rugby in nearly 12mths though so although she’s their first choice first five, she’s well short of match fitness. Semple drops to the bench. Edmonds also had a strong season...

I understand the main argument against further mobilisation is economic. They need their younger population to work and pay taxes to fund the war in the long-term. There’s also a military aspect to it as they’re also relying on them to lead the innovation industries for the military to gain a techno...

Whatever the economic reality and military capacity of Russia, it won’t stop Putin (or a like-minded successor) doing exactly what he’s done in Ukraine. The political objectives will always trump all else. Who is going to stop him domestically? The opposition parties? They don’t exist. Moldova, Geor...

What happened to Kenya? I remember about 10 years ago they were one of the top teams. Golden generation retired. Some true 7s greats among them like Collins Injera. Willy Ambaka and Humphrey Kayange were also great players. However, Injera is in a class of his own in terms of longevity and impact f...
