Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread

Thanks Auck. What’s the general view of Aupiki? Success? Relative success? Has it flagged certain areas the black ferns were weak which can be improved? The players want it to expand to a full-time competition with their extra teams or longer season. At the moment, it’s a semi-professional competit...

Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread

Hope for McGoverne yet. Good to see Anderson get a half chance. Pip Love is unfit and really is off the pace. Cottrell still misses out - madness. Phillipa Love, Liv McGoverne and Mia Anderson will join the Black Ferns squad on interim contracts as injury cover. One additional full-time contract is ...

Clearly pre-2008 that photo then. Similar to Uluṟu I guess. I climbed it back in the ‘90s on a rugby tour. However, I heard it’s been stopped for quite a few years now.

Re: NZ Women’s Rugby Catchall Thread

Biggest Shock: Krysten Cottrell (Blues) was the best first five in Aupiki yet misses out. Yes she may be a bit old but ffs she was in form. Itunu is old too but she got the nod. Yet we have King (potential but not there yet) and Demant (she’s really a second-five & isn’t a goal kicker). Really happ...

Re: War in Ukraine...

In 1991 there was a free and fair election held in which 93% percent of the population voted in favour of independence. Every single region voted in favour of it. I'm pro-Ukraine and I still find using the 1991 election as an indicator of people's views in 2024 to be a flawed argument. A lot of tim...

Just saw the England-Ireland score. Jesus what happened there? I thought Ireland were on the improve? I recommend watching it in the BBC iPlayer Auck. Re: Listen to your body

Early Thursday morning, I had a mild heart attack, no massive pains or sweating or the like, but a general feeling of my chest being squeezed. So I drove to the ER and was shuffled straight into the operating room for a 2.5 hour op using catheter. They inserted three stents and I am able to sit up ...

NZ crowds aren’t too much different from normal club ground crowds in UK / France. The difference is their club stadiums are much smaller so it looks like a big crowd whereas NZ stadiums were made for test rugby and from a time when the NPC and even big provincial club finals regularly got the big c...

Disappointing loss obviously. Not surprising to see fans of other teams piling in on us and Rob Penney. F**k you guys and the nothing-teams you support. I have faith that we have the players and staff to turn it around once we navigate through this unprecedented injury crisis. We've also copped two...

I remember AC’s passionate oratory years ago against the evil Steve Hansen for supposedly stopping Penny becoming coach of the crusaders. I don’t know how as I don’t understand Cantab Rugby politics but according to AC, Rob Penny was the greatest coach ever to walk the Cantab earth. If the evil Stev...

Re: Blues v Brumbies @ Eden Park - Today

When I spent a year in Canberra a few years ago I got along to a bush rugby match that was technically in NSW apparently. I got told all the NSW border clubs in the area supported the Brumbies. Also realised that country rugby in these areas seems to rival league in their history. I was surprised ho...

Blues 46-7 Brumbies - FT

Good hitout in wet conditions for the Blues. It could’ve been a sloppy mistake-riddled affair but they played excellent route 1 rugby tonight against a good team. Very happy with that.

If it’s rare then maybe a rescheduled match is in the spirit of the game. However, if it happens all the time like in Demilich’s example, nothing much you can do about it.

Re: Blues v Brumbies @ Eden Park - Today

Cotter's definitely given the Blues a harder edge. Good to see them playing more direct than previous seasons. The 2024 Aupiki Champion Blues women played the same way in the just completed season. Hard direct running lines instead of 50/50s. Cotter might’ve set his template across all Blues teams.
