Re: Americas Cup - OFFICIAL match thread
After watching the capsize a number of times last night I am left wondering how and why that large hole in the hull appeared because it didn't happen in the initial incident. Someone has mentioned that their battery broke loose and went thru the hull when they landed Funnily enough I was just watch...

They will need to. NZ are a class apart. Though it's promising to see Ineos beat Prada twice in contrasting conditions. As the challenger of record the Italian boat has a similar dev. advantage over the rest of the field as Team NZ.terryfinch wrote:They also think they have massive improvements still to make.

He didn't pick the correct side of the course, he brought the wind down with him the whole way that was in front of the wind shift. To be fair Ineos sailed themselves back into the lead before the race was abandoned. Because ahead of the wind shift the wind picked up and was brought down the course...

Re: Americas Cup - OFFICIAL match thread
I am really enjoying the close racing with the lead changing hands in these windier conditions. That capsize was insane though. Ineos pulled off a high speed tack and bear away against Prada but it seems Dean Barker was caught out in heavier wind and a more volatile sea state.

Well f u ck. After the first race was abandoned because of wind shift I sloped off to bed and missed all the drama. Very surprised to see Ineos pick up another win against the Italians. Then in the second race AM sailed brilliantly until they had that problem and capsized. It's so dramatic seeing th...

Re: Americas Cup - OFFICIAL match thread
Ainslie is not doing well. He's far too twitchy on the helm and not handling either the sea state or any lifts or drops in the wind. Seems shook. Edit: Maybe a bit overpowered for the conditions? Do they have more sail out than the Italians? Second edit: And the Italians absolutely screwed by a win...

Re: Americas Cup - OFFICIAL match thread
Call me old fashioned but I really like the fact a famous Brit like Ainslie is leading the UK challenge. The Yanks and Italians having a Kiwi and an Aussie at the helm doesn't seem right. Shame the Aussies don't have a challenger involved. It does help frame the competition. The Aussies should alwa...

Is it fair to say that no nation, per capita, cares more about the America's Cup than NZ? Yeah. It's a rich white man's sport. Not really going to grip the imaginations of any country that doesn't feature that demographic. I think NZ is such a small country that if we do well at anything internatio...

Don't get too excited no one yet knows if the boat will be competitive in the lower wind range of 6.5 - 10 knots. Sadly I suspect it will be like Bermuda. You were saying? 3-0. Pleased with that ! Puffy conditions. I think Ineos got all the luck there though - the error at the start did for the yan...

Have UK been sandbagging? They looked out of it 4 weeks ago. Maybe it is the stronger winds that suit them? Apparently Indonesia are going for the "vector" part - to get people back to work, you'd assume. Will see what happens I guess. I don't understand this choice because those at risk of hospitalisation and death are a much smaller percentage of the population. You cannot tell a vector by looking at t...

Great start for Ben Ainslie and UK boat. Hammered the Yanks and then comfortable win over the Italians. Looking very good! Don't get too excited. We couldn't buy a win in the World Series 0 - 6. We should help Ireland out. It’s our neighbour and our friend. Millions of Irish people live and work in the UK. We are intimately connected. Screw the rules — Brexit Britain, free of EU red tape, should offer to include the Irish Republic’s five million citizens in its vaccination project. Let’s g...

How much of this is the fault of puritans who block giving the parent a voucher for £30 that is redeemable in any supermarket.
