Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
I must have missed the IRFU solving all our organisational problems in the 00s and sourcing coaches and administrative staff for us.

He's hardly going to say well it's going to be a nice bit of wedge in the back pocket. I still don’t get it? They have a really strong link to Ireland having lived there as kids. Beauden played U12 Gaelic for Meath. I’ve heard them all talk of loving their time there and wanting to get back to visi...

Re: Jordie Barrett to Leinster !
Leinster are the only province to have kiwi coaches in underage structures? We know there's an advantage but it's not insurmountable. Pretty much none of the stars of the latest u20 side are from Leinster unless you count Murphy, who looked like a step down on recent u20 FHs. Leinster also tapped in...

Let's be fair if you don't win the double next year it must be called our as a massive choke. Because we have Barrett? How do you think he massively improves the squad? Leinster are a top side, no doubt, but we're not unbeatable. As we've sadly found out the last few years. Barrett and Snyman, and ...

Connacht and Ulster being forced to trim their squads then seeing Leinster spunk a quarter of a million on a backpacker shows how broken the system is Maybe dont spunk more than half a million on a prop who wants to leave after 10 mins and then you can complain about what we do The lads had Piatau ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
A draft is a nonsense, the provincial identity is important. What needs changed is that the IRFU need to improve the other provinces, not just let them stagnate and regress while Leinster continue to be a European powerhouse and provide 20+ players to national squads. That should be additional fund...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Also, the way the system works is that internationals in squads give extra leeway for bigger squads so it'd be a bit stupid to ask Leinster to trim the squad as our international contingent increases. In a year or two, we might, for example, find TOT and Wilson in the Irish 23 and Ulster will get th...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
This is a lot of kerfuffle over a six month signing. Sounds like Barrett wanted a break and was willing to take less than he could get to have a short stint with us. It doesn't massively change much, it's not like he's the missing link.

Fardy wasn't half bad.You have enjoyed plenty of imports, both Synman and Barrett are the first high profile ones for Leinster since Brad Thorn and Isa.
And do you mean post retirement Isa? Because original Isa wasn't a big signing.

all that's missing is one of those huge saffa locks Synman ain't exactly small. He looks very small if you are on the pitch and looking at him in the stands. Munster didn't do enough I agree, and the lack of professionalism in certain things was incredibly evident for a long time. But they never had "this opportunity". Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
I think this kind of signing isn’t an issue if there a redirection of some younger players to fill problem spots in other provinces. Even as a short term basis. Season long loan for tector up north? Osborne or Boyle head down south. Connacht haemorrhaging players. But every indication suggests this...

Produce good players and they get CCs allowing you to sign good backups to cover while they are with Ireland. While there is no way the two announcements are correlated in that way, Leinster's 10 CCs are a big part of the reason you can spaff 200K on something you really don't need. Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
The thing is, if the 200k is accurate and presuming Ngatai is leaving then that's a net reduction in salary costs for our NIQ back. So, while it's a great and unnecessary addition, it's hardly flashing the cash.

Snyman at least makes sense, especially with Molony leaving.
200k for the business end of the season for Jordie also sounds like a bit of a bargain.

Would be weird alright. Although he's fairly like for like with Ngatai in that he's primarily a 12 who can cover across the backline but hard to see it sanctioned. It could stunt the growth of a player like Osborne who has a very high ceiling. Ireland do have options at 12 but they're all in their ...

The reason the forward pass was bring discussed was because of an accusation that Dickson favoured us. I don't think he got much wrong to be honest but as I said before, there were a fair few 50/50s that another ref might have gone the other way with. If only we could have transferred a few of them...
