Re: Italy vs Springboks
Do I recall correctly that there was an upright, high head contact, no arms tackle on a bok player without the ball that was called play on?

Re: This red card malarky
Are you prepared to at least concede that "leading with the shoulder" is not illegal? Oh, and also pedantically, that a no arms tackle means not a single arm was used in the making of that illegal tackle. In other words if an arm is in fact used, then it can't be called a no arms tackle? Yeah, you'...

Re: This red card malarky
 Fvcking making clearly obvious personal observations! :x I get the 'off arm wrap' is a pretty long stretch. But the law calls for a wrap by both arms, and at least one of the arms is wrapping. But I get it. The challenge with both red cards is that the tackling arm was clearly blocked from mak...

Re: This red card malarky
TBF, the initial contact is below the shoulder line. There is still pretty substantial and forceful contact to the neck/chin almost immediately after. Full red is maybe a bit harsh. If you are going to be be fairly upright, you sre going to slide up into the head, initial impact site is irrelevant ...

Re: This red card malarky
Hang on - are you saying you’ve never seen a ref rule tackle rather than charge despite hard shoulder contact and incomplete wrap? By way of a reminder, this is the relevant bit in the LOTG: A player must not charge or knock down an opponent carrying the ball without attempting to grasp that player...

Re: This red card malarky
That pinky-brown thing on the side of Garbisi’s jersey is Mostert’s hand. It didn’t detach itself from Mostert’s left arm to alight there. Apparently the arm that is on the other side of the body does not count when it comes to a South African tackle. Or any other tackle ever. If the law is intende...

Re: This red card malarky
It's more than a penalty cause it's still a no arms tackle that makes contact with the head. Yellow at least, possibly a bunker red cause even though the contact isn't direct it is still pretty forceful contact to the neck & chin. Probably similar to the Ringrose tackle on Beaudan in the Irish game that was only deemed a penalty? It's more than a penalty cause it's still a no arms tackle that makes contact with the head. This red card malarky
Yet another one this weekend. Not a spur of the moment decision, but reviewed with replays etc.
Is this starting to get silly. I mean they brought in the yellow to red for this very reason, but for some strange reason that doesn't seem to apply to the South African team?

They should have used Clogs as counsel... No one wants that. The french player would have ended up with at least 2 weeks. Lest we forget, a certain Australian player who shoulder charges Mapimpi... Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
Is there something that Clogs doesn't grasp. I have made it very clear there is high contact and it was dangerous. At the very least a yellow card. What I am disagreeing with is the straight onfield red card. The argument for the straight red and therefore disregard for the mitigating circumstances...

Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
Years and years and years of refs calling a tucked shoulder illegal but clogs thinks he has them on a technicality (using stills from after contact was made as well). The disciplinary hearing will be interesting. I do think he'll get off lightly. I don't agree with the view from some that he target...

There is more than an attempt to grasp, he does in fact grasp the frog. https://i.ibb.co/LzZwFJYN/arm.jpg And before you get into the left arm right arm flinsy bollocks, let me be clear. There is no requirement or specification in the law about which arm is required to grasp. Facts are clear, he com...

Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
Clogs, you can't tuck your arm like that. It's illegal. Hence the refs calling it illegal. It shouls be simple to back up this claim. Point me to the law that says having your arm in the position he has it, is illegal. www.irb.org/laws/tackle I get a domain name registration request with that link....

Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
As I said earlier in the thread, certainly a bit of sympathy that it didn't go to the bunker with a small amount of mitigation. I don't believe he was trying to smash Ramos in the head but he was going for a big hit and the tucked arm (regardless of other) makes it reckless and illegal so it'd be a...

Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
It was the ball that did it!! Clogs, you can't tuck the arm of the shoulder you're smashing into the tackle with and then claim a legitimate tackle because you bring the other arm around. The whole point of being asked to wrap is to make sure the point of the shoulder doesn't make the initial...

Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
Ok, now for a bit of overhead action. Looks a lot like Lood is significantly impacted by copping a ball in the face. He really does appear to flinch away from the ball and that makes a significant change to his angle of attack. https://i.ibb.co/tPKQwsnL/20251109-080357.jpg https://i.ibb.co/x8KzzwjK...

Loods left arm has progressed from being right beside him to starting to reach forward. IN this image you can see the French players arm now makes contact with Loods right arm, preventing any further ability to complete a 'wrap'. https://i.ibb.co/xKVcs85w/b5.png In this pic you can see where the Fre...

I assume Ramos is going to come out and explain his drop in height, and that Lood is a wonderful guy and the he hopes the red card is recinded? From another rugby forum. Re: Official: France v South Africa - Clash of the Titans thread
Not a straight red, he made contact the his arm. Borderline bullshit red. I would agree for a yellow without a doubt I have some sympathy regarding straight or 20 min red but there's no way it's just yellow. He tucked and lined up for a smash. So regardless of where he hit, it was a pen and possibl...
