Strange move given jta wouldn’t be noted at a top scrummager. A big ball carrying brute no doubt but that’s TOT surely?? Not a bad player but from a far it looks like the type of sign “jenkings coz cj is gone and our front row is crap “ type of nonsense signing I see with Munster Our front row isn’...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Could be a good move for all concerned. Who knows contact skills better than Seán O'Brien after all? Obviously quite inexperienced in terms of coaching, although I do recall that he used to coach in Tullow on his weekends off from Leinster even as a young man and was always earmarked as a player wh...

Nice win. Kendellan is a super player….he makes so few mistakes. Considering it’s his first full season I see no reason for him not to make it to international level. Hodnett too.

Re: Munster v Leinster, a thread.

They’re all a bad combination. Archie rarely gets bested in the scrum and is a big effective lump in a maul etc. just can’t carry and is guaranteed to leak two dumb penalties a game. Scannell has good darts and appears to be an effective scrummager but is a hopeless carrier and has the physicality o...

Re: Munster v Leinster, a thread.

Carberry instead of Healy/Crowley combo starting/bench, Cloete starting ahead of Hodnett/Kendellan, Scannell starting ahead of Barron/Buckley combo. :| I'd have gone with Josh W ahead of Loughman but not much in it either way, both a step down on Killer at the moment. Archer/Ryan is meh, annoyed it...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Wouldn’t have any issue with Leinster signing ngatai it’s exactly the type of older pro who won’t push out an international but provides a steady hand/scaffold at mid to lower level pro14 that’s ideal for the provinces. Has he sorted out his concussion and injury issues. From memory he had some cons...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

I think it’s a deal that works well for all concerned. Personally I think he’s a good step up on bill Johnson. Johnson was permanently broken during his time at Munster. I see flannery as a ten who is competent at 15. He’s an excellent passer and has a good break and can kick. Issue for flannery as...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

I think ultimately so much of the flow of the game hinged on the disallowed Doris try. They were out on their feet at that stage…If we had gone beyond double scores it would have been a lot easier. Very hard to change a refs perspective when they’re getting it as wrong as it seemed in the scrum. But...

Watching back the Munster game …proviso that Newport were appalling
Casey and crowley were obviously excellent
Kendellan very impressive…very physical. Made yards at every opportunity. Very good footwork, good in the air.
Murdered a few rucks

Barron does an awful lot of the basics right.
