Re: La Rochelle v Leinster

That's not the incident that was discussed in commentary. It was the one where they were looking at Furlong possibly leading with an elbow - something happened immediately after that which never got replayed.

Re: La Rochelle v Leinster

Have we just witnessed the worst ever Leinster performance in European knockout rugby? Absolutely gutless stuff. Pea-hearted performances to a man. Comprehensively out-gunned in every department. It was sad watching their scrum get walked around the park like a colts team. You could hear how much i...

Re: Return of the thread for people obsessed with Everest

Some fairly athletic leaps of assumption there Booji... none of us know exactly what went on or why guys made the decisions they did up there. As expedition leader, the responsibility falls onto Rob Hall and sadly, he made poor decisions that cost him and others their lives. Krakueur admitted later...

Re: Return of the thread for people obsessed with Everest

There's nothing definitive about why Hall and Hansen carried on past the turn around time. The idea that there was a reluctance to turn Hansen around so close to the summit for the second year running is something proposed after the fact as one possible explanation for why he didn't turn him around...

Thanks. That was an excellent video account of the tragedy. Interesting that John Krakauer never features in any of these documentaries. Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

I agree whole heartedly that a lack of speed absolutely kills. I think that if Luke had been at the bottom of a previous ruck and Furlong threw a pass like that I'd be patting him on the back. But its from a well set maul that has gained a few meters and he's the f**king SH - it's a 8-9 yard pass an...

Speed of pass is much more important than extreme accuracy. Getting the pass out there around where the player is, will, more times than not, end up with lots of ground made as opposed to setting yourself, looking at the ball on the ground, looking at your receiver, looking at the ball on the groun...

There was no clear and obvious knock on for the last try, and all the wishing in the world won't make it so. There was a number of generously let off forward passes in the game though (which did favour Toulouse more than Munster) as well as other lenient decisions (most notably Murray and Earls who ...

You can do some quick calculations to get some estimates of what typical situations might involve. The fastest rugby pass measured (Guinness book of records) is listed at 48mph. That is from a static start, in a speed cage. Joe Simpson, the former Wasps scrumhalf btw. That is 21 m/s. Obviously play...

How fast do people think player are running? The vast majority of the time people bring up thee arguments the passing player doesn't have much forward momentum.
