Re: Glasgow

Lots of noise on twitter about a multiple stabbing. Of course it is dangerous to draw conclusions from Twitter, however Nicola Sturgeon has tweeted and asked people to stay away from the affected area so we can safely assume it is a very serious incident.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

So Nakarawa stays, that makes a big difference to Glasgow's squad. Only a one year deal, but at 33/34 next year he may be short of too many offers. Perhaps he will retire at Glasgow.

First Glasgow signing announcement of the Wilson era and it's a resigning - Turner on a 2 year deal. A good bit of business IMO, Brown will retain the number 1 position for a while yet but Turner should start to challenge for the top spot over this contract. Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

That's more or less what I remember, but he doesn't really stand out much in my memory to be honest. There weren't many in that year group I remember thinking too much of, with the exclusion of McDowall. Quite a few Championship level players in there as well as a bunch who were in the Super 6 last...

I see Devante Onojaife has also left Northampton with no destination noted. He was a Scotland U20 cap a couple of years ago. I wonder if he might be joining Glasgow? He was a fairly large back row at U20 level, something Glasgow could probably do with. He played 6 games for Saints last year. It was...

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread

Lock news: Tim Swinson has come out of his (exceptionally brief) retirement to sign for Sarries. I wonder if that will change the complexion for Hunter-Hill. Glasgow have apparently signed Hamish Bain from Stade Nicois. In other news, ex-Scotland (and latterly England) youth cap Fraser Strachan has ...

BBQs in the carpark for a winter game in Scotland is bold  . I agree there's no significant grudge between teams because people are Scotland rugby fans before they are club rugby fans. I also think they should make it cheaper and give free tickets to rugby clubs. Most people I know have Glasgo...

Embra sign Andrew Davidson from the Weej. Cockers continuing to stack the pack. You'd hope that means there is a strong chance Nakarawa is staying, otherwise they only have two senior locks (3 if you include McDonald). I see Tom Taylor has become available after being sacked by Pau. That would be an ideal pickup for Glasgow. He is a 10/15 so provides experience and depth in two positions they are weak.

It's a bit of a mess, unfortunately. Would prefer to go back to an inter pro with Ireland and the Welsh, keep it simple. The other rumour doing the rounds is that an Argentine team, based in Spain, may also be joining as a replacement for the Jaguares. Really? Scotland is a "very liberal" country? I doubt that. It has been run by the Labour party, and subsequently the SNP, for decades, but that doesn't make it 'liberal'. CVC have paid £120m for a 28% share in the Pro14. Unions retain 72% share. Money = good, losing some control to commercial interests = bad. Thoughts? Good. Commercial revenues are going to plummet. I have heard a story that the SRU are looking at some serious cost cutting.
