Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Well, they appear to have at least started to patch things up. Tom English on the BBC site has observed that Russell needs to be playing for Scotland - and performing reliably away from home - to have any hope of a Lions selection. If he is missing for too long that chance will be gone.

Re: The Official Scottish Rugby Thread
Russell will return!! But not in the 6N. Him and Townsend have made up but he won't return until the summer against South Africa. He's expected to have input in the prep for France. Oh, thank fudge for that. I just saw on Twitter that he would provide tactical insights for the France game, but not ...

He also developed an odd habit of including himself as a cameo character in his later books. Telling you what the next book would be about. Some great stories in that series and I loved the fascinating history lessons (of versions anyway) of long lost legends that just happen to be true for the pur...

Samo on wing is the weirdest internationally capped position yet.. JJ on wing isn't far fetched, he is a centre and centres can nearly ALWAYS play wing , Fiji doesn't have any that has played an odd position internationally cause our players usually can play anywhere. :proud: :proud: though Bordeua...

Re: Clive Cussler Goooonnnneeeee
Shame. I inherited most of his books from my dad - they were lots of fun, if profoundly silly. He made Dirk Pitt age gradually over the course of the series. Eventually he started to get a bit too old to do all of the adventuring and womanising, so Cussler’s solution was to invent a son (and daughte...

Re: Will the 20s 6N be very like the 90s 5N?
That would be great. We started and finished the 90s with titles, we were generally competitive in between, we were a whisker away from a RWC final and had Lions aplenty. Bring back the 90s literally any time you like. The only downside of the decade was that our sole win over England was in the 199...

Well, I hope nobody wants to replace them with Georgia. For all of the hype around them, Scotland played them home and away as warmups for the RWC (the away game being the first time a T1 side has played in Tbilisi, so you’d think they would have been well up for it) and we won by an aggregate score...

My main concern about today is that the win might save Townsend’s job. We were already heading rapidly backwards and now he has fallen out with at least one of our best players (possibly two, as I still think there is a lot more to the Richie Gray situation). Russell might be erratic and nowhere ne...

Harris. What is there to say? The best set of centres we have had in, well, the entire time I have been supporting Scotland, and we play Harris from the start.
Johnson has been underperforming at 12 too - Scott’s form should have got him a start as well.

Scotland will beat Italy. If not, Townsend will be gone. Beat any other team in the 6N, and that’s over performing. Look at the history. Look at the resources. Scotland are a team that sometimes punches above its weight. But usually doesn’t. Most other lower ranked team don’t do it often, or they w...

I'm at the stage where I almost want us to shit the bed against Italy, because it will mean an end to the Toony tenure. If he wins this game, I think he will probably be given another chance, even if we lose to France at home.
He is not the man to take us forward.

I keep swithering with this as well. That is a much more measured approach from Toony, and he does come across as the grown-up. Insanely frustrated by this statement. SRU say all fault with Russell. Russell says all fault with SRU. Clearly neither intends to budge. And it’s Scotland and us (the fans) who suffer.
