Too much rugby to be played yet Willie but we need to beat leinster next week. We should go all out for the stormers then rest people against the bulls before the Toulouse double header. After that it's Munster and Edinburgh? It's great to have 6/7 weeks of consequential games at least. Now is the ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Only thing I'd love to see against England is the original team with Baloucoube and even that's harsh on Conway. Doak is an arrogant wee fuxk and everything you want in a 9. If he gets on the Nz tour ( and he should) I wonder will it get to him. I like my ulstermen with serious chips on their should...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
I was delighted for Lowry to get his scores but he looked a bit tentative for me. Totally disjointed performance across the board so he deserves forgiveness but calling VDF motm was ridiculous imo. Far too many many turnovers at the breakdown to reward our 7 but Lowe for me picked up where he left o...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Lowe and Hansen do get a lot more involved in the middle of the pitch so I think it's a style thing. But that's not Baloucounes game. Baloucoune would be more of a strike runner and a finisher and so he does his best work out wide. Having someone who only needs a hint of space and they're gone is be...

In fairness Timoney is the top tackler in the URC and Europe this season and the top carrier amongst Irish backrows in the latter. Problem is that he is probably only feasible as a 7 at international level due to size. VDF is obviously number 1 but who is his backup?

As good as Hansen was (and did more than enough to keep the shirt) Ringrose was standout for me. Looked dangerous whenever he got the ball. Hume on the bench doesn't make too much sense imo unless of injury. I'd almost swap him for Baloucoune. Hard to drop Conway after two trys ( especially the firs...

Ah Willie as good as Lowry is (and maybe he has been marginally better than Keenan) you don't swap out a 15 who has down nowt wrong in his caps to date. Certainly not with another newbie on the wing and obvious questions around Lowrys size. He will get a chance, maybe not in this 6N though. An ankle...

Lowry isn't budging Keenan, no one is. Wish he would get some game time at 10 mind. No one is saying he is. He is really settling into the position however. Shat on from a very great height. So much for the compensation we got from the Bulls. I'd write off next year if it meant we got meaningful gametime for the young lads but I fear we will fudge about with the likes of Warwick in games again.

Ulster need to play Doak whenever Cooney isn't available and we need to have him on the bench for big games. Have to say I thought Hume was standout. Stepped well off either foot, passed well and ran nice lines. Early days but if he continues to progress hopefully we have decent competition for 13 (being unsure of where henshaw will play at this point). I'd certainly include him over mccloskey. Baloucoune ...
