Re: Do you work from home?
Compounding the issue is most of our team leaders are women with kids too, and it's a real nightmare trying to juggle all of that. Even if they are supposed to be in the office 3 days a week, as often as not they will have a sick child or childcare issues and end up working at home all week, or com...

Re: Do you work from home?
I think for experienced professionals, WFH is fine. My advice to juniors and anyone training juniors is to be in the office the majority of the time (so min 3 days). So much learning is incidental. Yep. Its also so hard to train people if they aren't around. Especially ones who are not so good at b...

Re: Do you work from home?
Hybrid - 3 days at work, 2 days wfh. I love it. I get a lot more done when I work from home, some of it even work-related. I agree with the comments about it being detrimental for people starting out in careers or new jobs, but for an old bastard like me who is busy counting his 17% super and time ...

Re: Do you work from home?
Suits are a uniform in a way - for a toff. We have a uniform and when I first started working in NZ I thought wearing a uniform was terrible, like being at school again, but now I love it, don't have to think about what to wear, don't have to buy "work" clothes, nice and easy. Don't get me wrong, I...

The 1970s called Grandad! That line alone puts you in the grand-dad basket. Faaark knows how long ago I first read it and similar. Re: Do you work from home?
My company offers hybrid working (2 days at home / three days a week in office ), although some people seem to have been able to negotiate 3 or 4 days at home. I don't do it, am in the office 5 days a week. I feel like it's opened so many cans of worms. Firstly, for the people who want to base them...

100% from home. Don't think I've been in an in-person meeting for 4 years. And the 4 years before that I worked remotely while travelling around Europe and Asia. Couldn't work in an office now - after so many years, I just wouldn't be able to get used to holding my farts in again. Or belching in a ...

This should of been held off until the held of the season, hideous when people are still putting in 100% every week. Not that RA would care. Yeah, very odd decision I think it comes down to creditors wanting to get more than 15c on the dollar back. If they liquidate a number of creditors will do be...

Re: Warm Beer Confirmed as Shite
Room temperature beer/ale is confirmed by boffins as being a shit way to imbibe one's tipple of choice. We all knew that anyway, but some people are innately bone headed and dogmatic with a tendency to haughtiness. Properly chilled beer / ale offers a more refined experience that may be beyond the ...

You know what is laughable... Oh sure. If we assume that covid would have carried on like every other pandemic, at the same trajectory forever without any peaks, and variants would never have become weaker , then I guess we might maybe get to 10s of millions saved by them wonderful vaccines. Hell, ...

Pearl Jam - Ten. Great songs ruined by the mix, which was so unprofessional . Reverber spreaded casually all over, guitar lacking grit and edge, delay abuse on Eddie, drum sounding like a meek has been placed somewhere in a room to pick it up, like in a demo. If you switch from Ten to Vs, song by s...

Tangentially related - but this conversation reminded me of 'felix Von luckner' who during WW1 took a three masted sailing ship to war in a time of Dreadnaughts... Yeah, we wouldn't nearly be approaching those numbers, two or three maybe. I played Fallout 3 a long time ago. Very enjoyable game with a surprisingly good ending. I've watched 1.5 episodes of the new show. It's not bad. As usual it's woke but what isn't. I think some of the violence is over the top also. The visuals are very impressive. Give yourself an uppercut mate

And I've been looking at domestic/small commercial wind turbines. From what I've heard the main reason domestic turbines haven't taken off is the much lower wind speed at the height small turbines can reach. Utilities install 100m turbines for that reason as well as or enonomies of scale. Solar OTO...
