Re: FIFA World Cup 2018 - OFFICIAL Thread
Pele, Maradonna, Eusebio, Di Stefano, Charlton, Best, Puskas, Beckenbauer, Moore. Cannavaro was a better player than C.Ronaldo is. Ronaldo is nowhere near to being a GOAT. He and Messi are just trumpeted by Asian football fans who invariably support Barcelona or Real Madrid as 'the best ever' since ...

Im supporting England now. My two teams are gone Germany and Argentina. Supporting Croatia now. Still going with my tip France to win it outright. Don't fancy supporting your neighbours (who would support Ireland if they ever got to a World Cup)? Yep that's how it works. If the Scotland and Wales w...

You can't judge England (or Belgium) for the dull game between their 2nd XI's, both teams were drastically weakened.
It's also really funny when 'England fans' are grouped as a single entity that has set opinions that every England fan follows and believes

Uruguay vs Portugal may break a record for the maximum time the ball isn't in play, in my opinion. Referees generally don't add time for anything except injuries where the medical team attends to the player, or 30 seconds per substitution.

The scrounging buggers can just buy condoms and save themselves and the rest of us money They also forget that the advice to use protection is applicable to everyone, and is based on the idea that protection stops the spread of every STI, not just HIV. The NHS is very negligent in not making this p...

If women want sportswomen to be paid as much as sportsmen it's within their power. Watch Women's sports, read/click articles about sportswomen, attend womens sports events, buy the merchandise of women's sports teams. With enough interest, the sponsorship/advertising money will follow. Stop being s...

Poland to beat Japan, would be the most 2018WC thing to happen. Hence I actually think it's better for us to win. Yeah, I've come round to this way of thinking. It's just nostalgia for past players. Even Italy 2006 had some average players, like Grosso, Cameronasi, Toni, etc. You need 4-5 world class players and the rest just need to be solid.

Whoever finishes second in England's group has Switzerland or Sweden in the quarter final, assuming they beat the team that finishes top of Japan's group (probably Japan). Tasty.

Japan in the R16 and Switzerland in the QF would be very tempting for Eng/Bel to throw the game and finish second. Potentially a smooth ride to a semi. Only recent one I can think of is Italy in 2006 who played Australia in R16 then Ukraine in the QF, which is probably the easiest of all time. Altho...

I don't buy the 'gaining momentum' argument. All the most recent World Cup winners have looked good the whole tournament. Germany beat Portugal 4-0 or 4-1 in the group during 2014, Italy were hard done by in the group in 2006 but looked very solid, same with Spain. The main thing all those teams ha...
