Re: Stupid laws world rugby have created in recent years

I would not say league is shit, it obviously has its popularity in Aus and NZ. But what annoys me is that we are moving away from what makes rugby, rugby. The waiting around for another scrum is what makes rugby, rugby? 15% of the game is spent forming scrums - is this what makes rugby, rugby? What...

Re: Why have Newcastle been so poor this season?

No money This is the answer. They are spending the least on wages in the Prem by a country mile. They don't attract the talent, and what little they develop tends to go elsewhere for more cash. This is what ringfencing and high salary caps have done to the Prem. We basically have three cohorts of c...

Why have Newcastle been so poor this season?

I mainly follow the URC, I looked at the Premiership table for the first time in ages and noticed that Newcastle are rooted to the bottom, played 13, lost 13. 4 points. There is a bigger gap (22 points) between Newcastle and 9th placed Gloucester, than there is between Gloucester and leaders Northam...

What is definitely weird is that some people claim to enjoy rugby, but don't like scrums, mauls or lineouts..... Or kicking the ball. I like scrums but don’t think we need any more of them. It’s good when the players aren’t just standing around for half the game. It is the game. This 100%

If you don’t like scrums and mauls and rucks, then there is Rugby League. 5 runs and a kick repeated until everyone dies of boredom or falls about laughing at all the ground shagging.

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

Eh? If the heavier pack invariably bullied the lighter one in the scrum, scrums would be even less of a contest for the ball than they are right now. But the fact is, better technique and greater mastery of the mechanics of scrummaging are more reliable determinants of success than size. The Boks d...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

If WR want to improve the scrums IMO they should get rid of the current pat-a-cake nonsense and have the front rows fold together first before the rest of the pack bind on with no pre-bind to the front row. You then start with a far more stable base as you have removed the hit/momentum advantage co...
