Re: Chill-Ay or Chill-Ee?
My former MIL had a friend from Chile and was very deliberate and proud in pronouncing it correctly. It was a huge flex for her. Sadly, she extended the flex for chili peppers/con carne. The irony of course was that she thought it made her the smartest person in the room. Nice to unload that after 1...

Sort of shows how far Canadian Rugby / British Columbia rugby has fallen since the amateur days..... Nice article, love your site. As the decline of rugby in our country continues unabated, I always steal from one of my favourite bands, Drive-By Truckers: So I'll meet you at the bottom, if there re...

My recollection with Sauder is that he was passed over for 2019 selection, surprising most people. He got called up as an injury replacement and never played. I used to be pissy about guys choosing 7s over 15s but it’s hard to blame them now. Sure you are not thinking of O’Leary? He was a last minu...

I’m sure Parfrey will get the start. I’m not a big fan of Nelson at 10, and those are two players at critical positions who aren’t exactly dynamic. I’ll be curious to see if Ngawati now gets a spot on the bench. I’ve been annoyed at having Povey and Parfrey take 2/3 back spots when they are both 10...

Brockton Oval in Stanley Park, Vancouver is a great one. Loved playing seconds then watching firsts from the balcony of the Evergreens clubhouse, then going to the VRC clubhouse right on the water as Saturday evening moved in.

Canada named. At least we win the formatting and graphics battle. Only change I can see is Baille on the bench. I can understand no changes to the starting backs but not having Ngawati there is a shocker. I guess Jones is rewarding the boys for a strong performance. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-2q...

Trudeau may have loved Canada, or some concept of Canada, but he had a great amount of contempt for many Canadians. Mulroney was seen as an elitist, but he was a small town kid who did well in law and the private sector. Trudeau was raised in much more privileged circumstances.

Firing Kingsley seems extreme, but if he is the specific reason overseas players aren’t reporting it may be necessary. I don’t know that Canada can afford to pay o their fired coach.

I agree with OttawaKat and badman about the low qualities of our current political class. It is certainly the poorest group in my lifetime. This is so sad and pathetic. If MLR fails, rugby here is set back at least a decade. USA Rugby has very little to do with MLR, thankfully. It seems like MLR is gaining a foothold as a viable competition, although the business model does remind maybe a little too much of MLS. I worry about the susta...

On box kicks, could there be a rule that outside your own 22, any ball coming out of a ruck has to be passed once before it’s kicked? It would eliminate the box kicks by the 9, although I’d be fine with allowing grabbers because those are an attacking play in my opinion.

It’s going to take a miracle for Canada to qualify for the RWC. I think their best shot is to upset Uruguay; I don’t think they can beat multiple quality opponents in the repechage. I won’t be shocked if they downplay Men’s XV in the aftermath. It’s going to be a long, miserable climb back to the b...

Re: Am I a complete idiot thinking chicken lasagne would work?
Traditional lasagne isn’t tomato sauce, the layers are ragu and bechamel. Start with that as a base concept and you should be fine. I think you will have to season the chicken mince pretty seriously. You may want to cook it up in some white wine. Some ragu recipes use white wine instead of red so it...

I blame the IRB. They tweaked the laws so that forwards didn’t need to bother getting into rucks/mauls anymore. So they just fan out in defence turning the game into rugby league. Bish bash bosh as there’s no space left to run into. I really notice this on the rucks - players just fan out. What was...
