Re: Jeff's All New And Despondent Wales Ratings v Italy
I've gone to every game this season - dont care about the c £800 I've spent on the East Stand U9. Enjoyed myself at every game, before and after. But as a rugby fanatic since c 1970 (Geoff Wheel always, still, my favourite player) I can honestly say this crop are shite. Our clubs/regions are f**king...

Re: Jeff's All New And Dispirited Wales Ratings v Fiji
15. L Williams – Solid performance, which given how poor we were as a team, was apparently enough to warrant making him MOTM. 6/10 14. A Cuthbert – You can see Pivac’s thinking when picking Cuthbert. A big lump to combat their big lumps, and it worked. Took his try in a manner that would have surel...

Re: Lions tour 2025 - f****d already
Without trying to downplay anyone's feelings on Lions, I love the whole concept, but it just loses a little of it's whole being with outside coaches and I know I will get plenty pissed off, even the likes of Aki and van der Merwe seem to somehow takeaway a bit of the old tradition (in my thoughts o...

Re: The official Lions 2021 thread
Are we having a neutral ref for the tests? The TMO Faf incident when piper kept stating “no contact with the head” when every other observer could see him running head first, looking what he was doing, directly into Navidis head was utterly mind boggling. I think the first two tests are officiated ...

If it is ‘player power’ Pivac is weak 1) to let it happen 2) not to go himself. I sense it was Hayward himself realising he isn’t up to it/for it. These things can galvanise a side - but I sense that this lot are riven with doubt. They sense a drubbing on Friday and frankly a third of the squad are ...

No. 6 a good debut But AWJ/Davies 9&13/Halfpenny/Toby/ Biggar look past it. We need a younger hungry dynamic pack and big quick backs. Aimless box kicking which contributed to losing today and v France was a joke. It can’t be the plan can it? Kick away rare possession and get it run back at us . Ver...

I like to observe changing language usage, without necessarily complaining about it, and I think that I have noticed some changes in rugby expressions during my lifetime: 'No side' for 'full time'. I definitely remember using the former, and you can hear McLaren use it on some of the older recordin...

Conor Murray - if the Lions had a decent 9 we would've won this series. Not popular, but true. Opportunistic try any 9 would've scored and 3 ok-ish kicks. The rest absolute gash, from his powder-puff passing to his lack of breaks and support.

You'll be hard pressed to beat Blair "Paddy" Mayne on this front. Well done Lions. Extraordinary game. Thought the red card was fair. Thought the yellow was harsh. Equally thought the penalty on Faumaina at the end was harsh. Great AB effort with 14 for 55mins. Mako's was worse. , at new narrative, There was barely any momentum in Mako's. Also Barrett was in the ruck and milked it. Looking at the SBW challenge again in slo-mo, his neck could have been broken. You can see it compress. Spot on. It wasn't just a should charge - it was also a forearm if...

Jeez. We didn't outclass the AB's and we weren't convincing.
That was CLOSE.
Lots of work needed. I'm still very unconvinced with Murray. Try was fine but the rest of his game was sooo slow.

Tad was quiet again - but Mako had a mare. He alone nearly lost us the game tonight. Penalty magnet.
The rest were superb. Warbs and AWJ totally justified. And SOB shone because he was there. And Toby on the wing for once a la Read.
Back 5 won us that game.

Frankly POM/Kruis may as well go home (except for tackle-bagging).
Back row far more effective tonight and Warbs was everywhere.
And Itoje was immense tonight and AWJ was very good for 60.

Murray scoring saved his bacon. One kick aside he was kicking poorly again. And his passing is Laidlaw-like.

Murray - OFF. 2 kicks. one straight to the AB and they attacked. Other one straight in. Delivery gash.
We need speed now to take advantage of potential overlaps - and in the corners.
Webb MUST come on!! Before it's too late!!!

Every try should be checked by the TMO for a forward pass. The AB 3rd try looked forward. BUT coaches and players MUST start saying this on camera. This omerta has allowed this to go on for too long. An average prop in an era of average props. He got the first Test Lions Tours front rows wrong in 2009 and 2013. His judgement is poor. His perception is poor. And thus his selections are poor. Maybe bring on Webb earlier. He'll still want Murray's kicking. It's a no-brainer. Wales.
Irish contribution from Furlong, Murray and 6 (POM? Jeez!!) and SOB 7 (game but outplayed) was disappointing.
(Though I hate breaking down the BIL to individual nations - goes agin the ethos of the concept).

Think Webb needs to start next week. He certainly should have come on sooner in the first test. We lost through the back row (and yes Kruis was poor and AWJ seemed to have taken a knock) and 9 + 10.
