One has to admire his consistency. As bad on his 1st cap as his 101st Things are finally looking up He should have gone after the world cup, but I suspect he and Scabbers had some kind of gentlemen's agreement to get him to 100. If that’s true, I’d hate that. It’s the national team, the ultimate me...

Re: Jeremy Guscott v Manu Tuilagi - who was better?
Manu was an incredible wrecking ball but Guscott had everything else. Absolutely nothing wrong with his tackling, great hands and pace to burn. Remember Underwood pelting away and Guscott alongside looking like he was jogging. As a 15, I wouldn’t fancy Manu coming at me but at least I’d be sure that...

Re: Irish Travellers
Some of these lovely people took up residence in the car park where I used to work. Police not interested so the landlord called in a firm of ex squaddies from London to deal with it. One of them had a quiet word and within the hour the travellers were gone. This is the West Country and there are al...

Re: Gregor Townsend
So Ben Ryan (of 'teaching' Fijians to be good at 7s) is currently the best alternative that's been suggested? Just checking. As I said, it was a waaaaaaay left field suggestion on the basis that we need a shrink more than we need a coach. On a more sensible tack, I think that ROG is worth a look.

And boy, isn't he making a career out of pointing that out  Less to do with that and more to do with him now being more of a sports psychologist and leadership guru, who knows how to run a rugby team. Waaaaaay out of left field pick, largely as I think it’s a top two inches issue, Ben Ryan. You can't call for a coach or a player to be sacked/dropped if you don't suggest an alternative who stands up to scrutiny.
This would basically end the Townsend debate.

Re: Gregor Townsend
On topic, I'm not sure Scotland will get a coach who can life them ebtetr than Townsend. Though I do think Townsend style is one can beat almost anyone on their day, but would require so much energy and precision I doubt Scotland can do it 5 games in a row. This is the thing it's consistency and ga...

Scotland’s Eddie O’Sullivan. Stabilised and improved a mess but couldn’t make a breakthrough. The Scots real problem is they have no Declan Kidney ready to take over and bring them to the next level Scotland could have Graham Henry, John Madden and Alex Ferguson, but they’ll still have to make do w...

He’s done a great job to get us from where we were to what we are ‘capable’ of, but he’s topped out and we are wasting a very good team. Not convinced he has the changing room either.
Thanks but time for someone new.

Ben Earl is a joke. He is not fair What he's proven is what many of us have been saying, footwork is more important than bulk now. Defenders just chop down fat lumps easily. Pushing that further- wouldn't we be better with Earl and Mercer on the pitch? Probably. Earl and Barbeary would be interesti...

Re: The Official Itlay v Scotland Match Thread
Hopefully Italy can back it up and win next week. If they can establish themselves as a team who could win two or three games a year would make the championship even better. Good luck to 'em, Scotland haven't managed that yet. We can certainly do that, just not in a row or when we are supposed to. ...

It wouldn't be great if Ireland were to lose again next week yet somehow still win the tournament. They won’t lose to sodding Scotland. The stars aligned for England today. Surely Townsend has to have questions asked of him. Nothing to show for how many years in charge of one of their best sides in the past 30 years? They're somehow still just one win away from a triple crown. But yeah, a bad loss next week and the focus will be on him. He’s done a phenomenal job, but...

Think Italy just grabbed their public's love and buy in there. Full and loud attendance, big TV audience. These wins are big. That's massive for us. 2 positive results. Point of order re. Sam Overthehill, if you’re born overseas to a serving member of our country’s armed forces, you’re almost certainly de facto born in the UK. ‘British Forces Overseas’ is the correct term, I think. His old man Greg (my old man’s former boss) was a serving RAF Officer, on (a relati...

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to suggest in good faith that a guy who was born abroad but ha lived here all his life, particularly someone whose parents were working abroad, should not be able to play for the country he grew up in.
