Re: Lions furious that first test to have bent Saffer TMO

With Jonker as TMO, the Lions better pray that nothing gets referred to the TMO. At least you have one of the best refs in the game, Berry, and he will hopefully avoid the use of the Jonker factor. I hope this match is a draw. I consider there is a cloud over SA Rugby, with 5 first class players tes...

Re: Official 2020 Olympics Thread (being held in 2021)

I see that the excellent Aussie 7s player Sharni Williams has received permission to wear her special LGBTI rainbow headgear during the Olympics. Now that the Olympics have taken a turn away from being 'all about team and country' and are branching off into individuals showing what's 'speshul' about...

And just 2 more things (that don't mean three): . At least they have possibly the world's best ref (Nick Berry) in charge - to me it's between Berry and Williams(NZ), so if World Rugby are smart, they will assign Williams to at least one of the other Tests. . I believe SA Rugby is under a cloud at t...

Re: Lions furious that first test to have bent Saffer TMO

I would still hesitate to call most officials 'bent', bad as the selection are that World Rugby turn out (as demonstrated by the lamentable enzedders, Pickerill and O'Keefe, in the Oz vs France Tests), but Jonker I regard as 'proud to be bent.' His worst ever that I recall was back in 2010(?) when F...

Great work, boys! Winning an international is rare after copping a Red card, unless there's a huge mismatch between the sides, eg All Blacks vs Pago Pago. Those froggie 'worst Australian team ever' etc. comments are just stupid - this is a better squad than the last one we put out a couple of years ...

France lucky there. Wallabies had a definite edge all night in a close one, but the French got the points whenever they offered, and we left a couple more tries out there. They looked very nervy. I've bagged Lolesio, but I hope the players around him can help him out. It's a confidence thing, Gordon and Toomua should be in his ear picking him up. Toomua looks very unfit, hasn't any legs at all. He is 2 yards consistently behind the play. Koroibeti trying his heart ou...

Re: Wallabies v France July Tests

Would like to see Ikitau come on for the second half, and Paisami come in to 12. Also, DR spoke a lot about Wallabies needing to lift the pace of their game, so I don't know why he hasn't been drilling them in running onto the ball. There have been some promising cut out moves, but too much sideways...

Forwards not too bad. Wings good too. Paisami hot and cold. The rest dire. Gordon, Lolesio, Toomua, Banks offer nothing in general play. Wright looks very much like he'll cut them up if he gets a yard of space. French seem immune to yellow cards at the moment: 3 infringements in their 5 metre zone,...

Great performance by the Reds to show their fighting qualities, but lamentable that they let the Chiefs back into it like that: from 55 mins. their defence went into 'vs Crusaders' mode - they were way too relaxed, and gave them too much space. Apart from that, it was wonderful poetic justice to see...
