Peak manu was better but that only happened in maybe 3 internationals. The rest of the time Guscott looked like a pedigree arabian stallion vs a dray horse.

Re: Irish unity....?

Something like this. When the Scottish referendum was first agreed support for independence was in the 20s. By the time they voted on it, it was up to 45%. It wasn't enough for Scotland, but a similar swing in NI would probably set the wheels in motion for an almost inevitable reunification further...

I think chessum brings more than underhill. Itoje Martin Chess Earl Mercer Starting to look like a proper England pack. Add in willis x2, Pearson, barbery, Dombrandt and those are pretty serious backrow stocks before you consider any young lads coming through. I just don't see a place for a safe pa...

I just don't see how him and Earl don't fit into the same backrow. Totally different build and different skillset, but also both have ridiculous engines. All I'm saying is if you're going to go defon 1 with hubris saying that you are happy not with a UI , have the border poll and put it to bed for a few years otherwise the conversation won't go away. So back to the clear British majority in favour of a United Ireland. There's something deeply undemocratic about a tiny minority holding sway over the vast majority. Well a united Ireland is not something that the people or Britain have any real say about democratically, so while their opinions are...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes

I'm ambivalent on the not straight, refs don't call not straight line outs all the time when there's no jump already and imo throwing it straight at a restart is a key part of rugby as it's a contest for possession at all times (just like the scrum). The current interpretation of the kick chase law...

All in all, I think England did make decent progress. We saw a much invigorated attack and some very committed play, the players also seem much happier to me, certainly England supporters are. The mark from kick off is ok imo, because it means any long kick into the 22 can be marked, which is at least consistent. For the croc roll thing I'd rather make it more difficult to successfully jackal by giving the tackled player a bit more time to place the ball, and requiring a player attempting...
