Re: The Reform Party UK
Do people really dislike Sunak more than Johnson or Truss? have people forgotten how unpopular the delusional featherweight and the lying corrupt feckless delusional heavyweight were? Many Brits wont vote for a non-white PM. Particularly a lot of the Red Wall types who ditched labour to get Brexit ...

Re: Jeremy Guscott v Manu Tuilagi - who was better?
Peak manu was better but that only happened in maybe 3 internationals. The rest of the time Guscott looked like a pedigree arabian stallion vs a dray horse.

Back was a meathead You guys can’t/won’t see that because he won the world cup - which I understand Nathan Grey lives round the corner from me. I see him all the time. Re: Irish unity....?
Something like this. When the Scottish referendum was first agreed support for independence was in the 20s. By the time they voted on it, it was up to 45%. It wasn't enough for Scotland, but a similar swing in NI would probably set the wheels in motion for an almost inevitable reunification further...

I think chessum brings more than underhill. Itoje Martin Chess Earl Mercer Starting to look like a proper England pack. Add in willis x2, Pearson, barbery, Dombrandt and those are pretty serious backrow stocks before you consider any young lads coming through. I just don't see a place for a safe pa...

I just don't see how him and Earl don't fit into the same backrow. Totally different build and different skillset, but also both have ridiculous engines. Sure they both might be a little bit off underhill in dominant tackles, but between the two of them I reckon they make a lot more then him alone....

Dean Richards is a good shout. Baffled that no English posters have mentioned Winterbottom though. He was a machine, that guy. Miles better than Haskell, given some modern conditioning. I would have Neil Back before Haskell, properly tough though small. I liked Haskell to be fair. More of a genuine...

Sinn Fein want the border poll even though they know it would be defeated. Not sure what to make of that. What's the reasoning? Whip up the DUP and TUV into an anti-Irish sectarian frenzy with the aim of driving more moderates/undecided to the Shinners side as lesser of two bigots Crazy. Like 1980s...

All I'm saying is if you're going to go defon 1 with hubris saying that you are happy not with a UI , have the border poll and put it to bed for a few years otherwise the conversation won't go away. There needs to be a sustained majority for unification for a border poll to be called, not sure that...

Have the border poll then . You've clearly nothing to worry about and it would put the question to bed for a decade. Re: Irish unity....?
So back to the clear British majority in favour of a United Ireland. There's something deeply undemocratic about a tiny minority holding sway over the vast majority. Well a united Ireland is not something that the people or Britain have any real say about democratically, so while their opinions are...

Re: Proposed Rugby Law Changes
I'm ambivalent on the not straight, refs don't call not straight line outs all the time when there's no jump already and imo throwing it straight at a restart is a key part of rugby as it's a contest for possession at all times (just like the scrum). The current interpretation of the kick chase law...

All in all, I think England did make decent progress. We saw a much invigorated attack and some very committed play, the players also seem much happier to me, certainly England supporters are. Borthwick has every right to take some kudos from that. We were a couple of minutes from a 4 -1 record and ...

The mark from kick off is ok imo, because it means any long kick into the 22 can be marked, which is at least consistent. For the croc roll thing I'd rather make it more difficult to successfully jackal by giving the tackled player a bit more time to place the ball, and requiring a player attempting...

Bad precedent set by Gardner with allowing the protracted debate with George and other England players on issues that had already ruled on. He caused that by saying Smith had handled the ball on the line, which would have been a drop out, not a scrum. He needs to be more direct and clearer in his c...

The decision that annoyed me most was the early turnover by France with the player clearly off his feet when England were in a promising position. Its a lottery on the rucks I'm afraid. He also drops to the floor prior to the tackle so it's also technically a penalty on that basis too. I've also heard some people say England strayed offside. The image given to the ref gave him multiple options to punish. Just too much to ignore. Bollocks. It was easy to ignore. A completely innocu...

Lawrence was in the 13 channel, and he got burned. He's just not that quick, and that's fine for a 12. That's why he's playing 12. Oh look- he's scored again. I've said this repeatedly. Lawrence is exposed at 13 at the highest level. He needs to play and stand at 12 in defence. He's no tompcyns tha...
