they _were_ pretty much bankrupt years back
their share price rise this past year defies belief, but the US stock market has decoupled from reality, mainly as a consequence of ~0% interest rates suspending reality.

Have to disagree with you on that Wambers, you’ve been inconvenienced, sure... but lockdowns haven’t hurt the economy in NZ or wider Australia at all with overall economic performance improving markedly. The cost of not locking down is potentially much greater and a look at the UK’s current situati...

Re: SH types - do you celebrate your winter solstice?
what's the link between xmas in july and the winter solstice in june though????
any celebration is obviously heavily tied to astronomy and agriculture to a decent degree and these things don't feature heavily in your average mordern, urbanite's life.

Do people in the NH celebrate the summer solstice? I know no one who does and can’t think of any celebration in Perth for it that your wife would have been to? La fete de la musique in France on the 21st of June is one mellifluous, national celebration, and has become somewhat contagious on the con...

Re: Cricket: Australia vs India TEST SERIES
the bowling has been good, but the batting has hardly been poor. this implies it is tricky to bat.
if india snag 3 quick wickets anything could happen, but I suspect Australia will just go all T20 on them to try and blast their way to victory.

A well as reading case briefs, you could also try reading some books or watching some documentaries on Trump produced before he even looked like getting into plitics or becoming a president. You may get a better understanding as to what is really going on here.

a distinction needs to be made between living and visiting a city. I could never live in Paris, but it is still a marvel to visit. Ditto Sydney, NYC, San Francisco etc.

1) The idea idea of "resigning" in chess. Seems stupid - in no other sport do you just give up because you are behind. Every other sport encourages fighting til the fat lady sings. Your opponent who is on top could make a basic mistake anyway and let you back in. It won't happen at that level. It's...

Re: Tech experts: Do YouTube videos quality decay over time?
It's possible Youtube, or the owner of the video, re-encoded it with more compression at some point. It may be a policy of theirs, a sort of storage saving measure for older videos. The quality wouldn't degrade by itself.

I mean what is the dude doing here when he cant even see the soloist? obviously a special setup for led zeplin, and in this case the cellist is simply playing in time with the orchestra, no need for visual communication. it is true that musicians mostly read their score, but we also know when to lo...

Re: Is the fullback at fault here? (League)
It's a bloody hard situation to defend, so maybe there wasn't a good option for the defender, and it's harder that he's got to cover across taking away being more squared up, but the one thing I'd say you want to avoid in that situation is exposing a weak inside shoulder, make the carrier break on ...
