Nairobi is a great day out.
Our stadium is a bit shit, but Kenyan fans are such good fun and unlike any other fans I've experienced anywhere else. Singing, dancing, chanting the entire match.
Even if their team takes a pounding, they'll party at the stadium all night.

Re: Congrats South Africa - RC winners !
Cheers lads. Very gracious of you. What a great tournament, the best I can remember in years. I still feel a bit flat after Saturday's win. Not that I was hoping for another cricket score, but as Blake mentioned we still are yet to put in a full 80 minute performance. But perhaps it was a good resul...

Re: The future of the Rugby Championship?
Tours was part of rugby for a long time. Nice to see them going back in the culture of rugby. Springboks should play warmup against the Wallabies before touring NZ. I do too, but my worry is that the provincial teams to play the touring team will get pumped. We've seen this already with the B&I Lio...

Libbok must be a nightmare to defend against when he comes off the bench and there are tired bodies on the field. Even our guys just stood and watched when he scored.

Re: Round 5: Springboks vs Pumas : MATCH THREAD: Sept 27
The highlights get better with every watch. That second half is just insane. I know this is all about the SFM, but Mallet pointed out in a podcast that the way our forward start getting over the gain line and get some momentum, it really makes life easier for our 10 to start pulling the strings. So ...

Actually that jersey is quite nice. Good to go back to hoops.
But that backline. Eish. The Stormers need some new faces.

Boan Venter to start at 1. Marco van Staden as hooker cover on bench.
Not ideal.

getting work to pay for a Switzerland trip is just about the only affordable way to visit.... It was eye-wateringly expensive. Everything. What do you mean by watering them down? We see so many red cards these days, it's just become the norm to finish a game with 14 players.earl the beaver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 23, 2025 2:23 pm Because we keep watering them down.

I can't even guess what team we're going to put out for this.
I suspect he'll save some of big guns from a rather silly flight to Twickenham, so perhaps we'll see Pollard, Eben, Willie, etc. for the Kings Park match.

Leinster get an easy tour first up. It's a shame that Leinster never get to send a strong side to SA. I know the young players love the tour as a bonding exercise, a rite of passage, a step in their progression etc. And that's cool but it would be interesting to occasionally go full bore. Usually t...

They certainly have challenges, but it's probably a blessing to feel some pain now while there is still time in the RWC cycle (I hate that term btw) to fix things. I'm also not a big fan of the term, nor of our results at this point in the "cycle". For context, in 2017 our win rate was 58% (includi...

It's hard not to think that Rassie Erasmus had already picked his teams for both tests prior to flying to NZ. This Bok team also has a stronger URC vibe to it.
I've seen a lot of comments about our Japan-based players being a little undercooked, and I'm starting to agree there is an element of this in the Bok team.

Not quite what I was hoping

It's a combo that I think could be one Rassie is planning long-term. But a big match to test it, as neither have been in their best form of late (although Moody did well on Saturday).

I don't see an issue here, apart from Narawa's terrible technique. He puts himself at risk by exposing his ribs by trying the tap-back.

Looking back after a couple of days to contemplate, what a lost opportunity that match was for us. I felt if we weathered the early storm of the first 20 minutes, then we had a chance to get back in. But 14-3 was just too much. It all comes back to Willie and Cheslin's mistakes. I've never seen Marx...

There is plenty of youth coming through. SFN is 23 and Hooker is 22. But I'm not sure an AB test at Eden Park is the place to start them.

Decent starting team. My only concern is Moody's defence. I'm a bit surprised we are still persisting with van Staden. I hope his penalty count is less this week. Apparently JLdP was supposed to start at 8 but got injured middweek, very unlucky. Very happy for Nortje to get a start. I like him, and ...
