Re: URC 2025/26 Thread

Leinster get an easy tour first up. It's a shame that Leinster never get to send a strong side to SA. I know the young players love the tour as a bonding exercise, a rite of passage, a step in their progression etc. And that's cool but it would be interesting to occasionally go full bore. Usually t...

They certainly have challenges, but it's probably a blessing to feel some pain now while there is still time in the RWC cycle (I hate that term btw) to fix things. I'm also not a big fan of the term, nor of our results at this point in the "cycle". For context, in 2017 our win rate was 58% (includi...

It's hard not to think that Rassie Erasmus had already picked his teams for both tests prior to flying to NZ. Perhaps he's a crazy genius, but I would have thought that the Springboks would have benefited playing largely the same team and building cohesion? A clunky attack doesn't usually get bette...

This Bok team also has a stronger URC vibe to it.

I've seen a lot of comments about our Japan-based players being a little undercooked, and I'm starting to agree there is an element of this in the Bok team.

Looking back after a couple of days to contemplate, what a lost opportunity that match was for us. I felt if we weathered the early storm of the first 20 minutes, then we had a chance to get back in. But 14-3 was just too much. It all comes back to Willie and Cheslin's mistakes. I've never seen Marx...

That's a bit harsh. 30 is hardly Dad's Army age.

There is plenty of youth coming through. SFN is 23 and Hooker is 22. But I'm not sure an AB test at Eden Park is the place to start them.

Decent starting team. My only concern is Moody's defence. I'm a bit surprised we are still persisting with van Staden. I hope his penalty count is less this week. The Good: I thought Ox and Marx were immense. Polly brought some much needed calmness and stability, although I'm surprised we didn't kick more at them. Kolbe shows there is still a gap between him and the usurpers. Williams is really making the 9 jersey his. The Bad: Backrow still feels unbalanced....

Some of these results are bonkers. Sharks looked much better, despite the loss. Our front row look terrible, but everyone else seemed to step up. Our 14 looks very good, like a young Nkosi. The rugby media landscape (I don't want to call it journalism) is in the gutter.
It's so hard to find decent articles on matches, incidentally the only good ones are on paid sites which highlights the problem.
