Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
Yeah, thought he was fairly conspicuously off the pace tbh but this season has been fairly weird timed for him, joining Munster in November etc. Fair comment. No preseason, or a messed about one, can't be helpful for a big unit. My concern was he didn't look that big. Looked a bit skinny for a prop...

Re: URCR7 Munster vs Glasgow
Glasgows tactics seem to be to keep possession go over and back repeatedly until they get a penalty, kick to the corner, maul. They did the same against Ulster last week. They've a good maul in fairness. Without the maul they look fairly bereft of anything else. No real incision or super hard carry...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread
The (not insignificant, it must be said) difference with Kleyn is that he IS ALSO a capped Irish international, as well as now being a capped Springbok and RWC winner. As much as we can ask for loyalty from the likes of CJ Stander and Isaac Boss after they retire from the game, it’s reasonable that...

Mad  It's Will Owen who did that, is that squidge's own account? He might have a point if LI were the only team in this situation but given COVID happened and then not one but two other clubs in that league have gone under this season, it seems like more than a stretch to blame PJ's signing. Small quibble, but not a single Benetton lineout has been thrown straight yet. Have many been challenged? There's a new law that means if you don't compete, they ignore the crooked throw. Eh, you sure? Treviso just had one called, all our lads on the ground. Think that's for next season?

Yup, Leamy is obviously some kind of savant. Is Fekitoa a guaranteed goner? Because that performance was something to build on. I had heard they were looking to offload him, I hope they don't as I had said he was escapegoated for the early season stuff. Any idea where we'd be looking to use the NIQ...

Crowley played 15 minutes of the second half at 10, not a very long time admittedly but he still managed to fúck up a penalty kick - don't think he actually did anything else of note, certainly didn't "get us playing in the right parts of the pitch" or "unlock their defence", or "put runners into s...

I think my disdain for Niall Scannell is well documented at this stage, but until Baron works on his darts, I don’t think you can play him ahead of the old dog. I’d love to see Crowley start, but I’ll be stunned if it’s not Carberry and to be fair, he’s shown a few glimpses in recent weeks. Will be...

Were we avoiding giving Crowley the ball a lot or was JGP just making the play calls? Starting to look like Killer is on the downward phase also, leaves us very reliant on Coombes and Edogbo in the power stakes. He looks so underpowered. For Munster to progress as a team, I feel that we need to cut the players who are deadwood or won't ever probably be top level - Scannel x2, Kleyn, JOD, Joey are not going to win us HCups. It might be unpopular but it has to happen. Whatever about the others, we don't really have any heavyweight lo...

So John Ryan was let go by Munster so Knox and Salanoa could develop (I’d assume finances played a part too) but then take him back a couple of months into the season. Strange one Archer is gone for surgery, Salanoa is just coming back from failing a HIA (I think it is) and we used our starting LH ...

AKA "friendly fire". I had forgotten about him and his nickname! Where did you hear that that was Ronan's nickname? He's not terrible but we always use him poorly.
While he's fairly strong for his size, he's not huge but we use him on crash ball for some reason rather than using his passing/kicking well.

What do coaches see in Scannell and Archer? It's not nous, power/physicality, set piece ability or hands anyway. Higgins' political view of the world was formed in late '60's US where he attended post graduate studies, and has changed little since. He is a long time anti-US military, pro-Cuba supporter, for example. Causes that have/had very little to do with Ireland, but everything to do with the late '60's ...
