Re: The OFFICIAL Capt Hurricane Hurricanes vs Chiefs Thread - Super Rugby Round 8
Where is Alex Fidow these days? I remember seeing most of the Hurricanes side coming through the representative age grade sides since college, and he was one of those players. He is packing down at Number 8 for Paremata-Plimmerton in Wellington club rugby today I attended the PPlim v Tawa game in p...

What does it say about World Rugby that they're unwilling to publicly admit this? Not a good look after what was already an average final.

Re: Hurricanes 2024. The Midget is gone!
With Ardie gone and Roigard on the rise, this coming season is begging for someone to raise their hand and be this team's next stand out player. I had Lakai pegged for great things but I see he's already had surgery to have his shoulder fixed so that might diminish his potential. In the backs I'd th...

Confirmed Blackwell has gone to Japan. James Tucker has been signed along with Ngane Punivai and Richard Judd. I guess that means goodbye to Booth. A shame we aren't bleeding another young 9 but maybe there aren't many good one's going. The full squad is announced on Thursday apparently.

Re: Is this the end of Rugby?
Only solution I can see is Rugby dying a slow painful death until World Rugby’s coffers are empty and the game reverts to amateurism (or close to it). How that will come about, I don’t know, but I’d guess if this is the growing sentiment of watchers, their revenue would decline with viewership. But ...

Wonder how many of the players will be scarred by the final. Will Jordan in particular had a night to forget. Jordie was visibly emotional. Hope they can put it behind them and move on.

Goes to show that not all World Cup wins go down the same. 2011 was relief and joy, 2015 satisfaction for arguably the greatest ABs team ever. If 2023 eventuates it’ll be ??? indifference? Restrained celebration, feeling slightly dirty for having cheered for Foster and Cane?

A team having 'islanders' or 'island boys', is a term I hear frequently in NZ rugby circles. Just as you would if a team had 'whiteys'.

This game has clumsy tackle and possible suspension written all over it. For that reason I'd like key guys who could possibly fall victim to that (Scott Barrett, Jordie, Savea) given as little game time as possible. It's sad that we have to think that way but seeing Tom Curry's send off means the r...

Re: Constant scrum penalties are already destroying this Rugby World Cup
Somewhat unrelated but another thing destroying this WC is the ridiculously long advantages. There was one occasion in the Fiji Wales game where the arm went out on the halfway line and Wales made a burst to the five metre line and were still under advantage. They scored in the same movement from a ...

Re: RWC Opening Match Les Bleus vs Les Tous Noirs Match Thread
Before the silly pass, Jordy was one of the better players. I know it was a big moment, but in comparison to other players on the day, it could hardly be rated as a shocker. Anyway, in the absence of Jordy, if we want someone busting the midfield outside the 1st 5/8th, we'd be better starting LF an...

On the topic, of course the NPC isn't fit for purpose, NZR have been consistently ignoring and devaluing it for years. How are we meant to generate any interest with no promotion, constantly changing formats, and seemingly a different name for the competition every other year? Not to mention it's r...
