Re: Bledisloe 2 - All Blacks v Wallabies @ Eden Park, 17 Au

Well done All Blacks! Great turn around. My thoughts: The loose forward quartet was immense. I didn't misspeak there, Quartet. The moment Todd came on it dawned on me. Cane, Savea and Todd all played in a single game. Having all of them in one team and it actually fits. Keep that going forward pleas...

Re: Wallabies vs All Blacks: MATCH THREAD: Perth Aug 10

Ioane is a classical finisher, but if work isn't on I could stand out there in a black jumper, walk around Perth and eat KFC. Get someone in there who is a busy guy. Play Ennor there next week? I don't seem them changing any of the under performing encumbants. they are trying to play half the team ...

As an All Black supporter I say congrats Australia. A fantastic victory and I hope this is a turning point that revives your belief as supporters and fortunes on the rugby field. You are a contender for the cup! That sickening feeling of being beaten in that fashion by the Wallabies has been sadly m...

Re: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Wellington 27th

The result reflected the balance of the game I thought. The wonky reffing calls against the Boks would have tainted a victory against them yet they didn't outright deserve a victory. AB's were rubbish in attack for the most part. Lurch looked seriously wrecked and that is a real worry. ALB and A Smi...

Re: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Wellington 27th

The Saders lads are a bit rusty, just klike the other's last week. Mo needs to step up and take charge. He's been far too timid. BB has tried to take it to them from the back, but it's been scrappy rather than finessed, last play excepted. I must say, great passing from TJ and, spit, SBW leading up...

Re: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Wellington 27th

What a stinky first half for the AB's. Handling was dreadful. I do wonder if they are purposefully not running any set moves or tactics to keep the boks blind until they face off at the Cup. The Crusaders boys look a bit rusty to be honest. Reiko looks off pace. Hope we see more flow in second half.

Re: All Blacks vs Springboks: MATCH THREAD: Wellington 27th

Looking forward to this game immensely! Going to be a real test. Pumped to see the new 10/15 combo. Been waiting for this for ages. Think the Boks will be very strong and it will be a close run thing or even a lose for AB's. As long as it answers some of our pressing tactical and selection questions...

Re: Official Thread: England vs All Blacks 10 Nov 2018 15:00

As an All Blacks fan my takeaways: Crotty coming on was a huge boost. SBW was dreadful. Just not doing what he is in the team for and fluffing the basics. Bender should have been at fullback that game to settle things down and control proceedings. Not convinced by Aaron Smith at the moment. His box ...

Re: Liam Squire

I think that Squire is the ideal person to step into the 6 role. Yes he is big and mean and mobile, but what I think his greatest relevance though is the balance he brings to our back row. Sam Cane in my observation is not a ball runner, but is a demon on defense and handy at the ruck. Read has been...

Re: Pasifika Challenge - Wales v Tonga, NZ v Samoa

My thoughts on this game in terms of relevance to the Lions test. The lions will never let us play with that kind of pace and fluency. They will slow us down in a myriad of ways. Our loosies will get held down and back from rucks. They will slow down taking scrums and lineouts. They will get penalti...

Re: All Blacks Lions Series discussion

If Crotty is out I would go with Laumape for his combination with Barrett. Also for his speed. I think we need plenty of that to push the pace up on the Lions. ALB at 13. Ideally Crotty will be there but not if he is busted. On the evidence so far I wouldn't have SBW anywhere near the starting 15. H...

Re: Super Rugby SF: Lions vs Highlanders - 30 July in Joburg

Is Jantjies already better than Carter? Might be worth a thread. Don't you dare! Probably not but based on today's game the "best scrum half in the world' (according to most Kiwis) was totally overshadowed by Faf de klerk. Yes De Klerk played very well. But to be fair to Smith his forward got...

Re: Super Rugby SF: Lions vs Highlanders - 30 July in Joburg

Very impressive Lions. Well deserved win. If a large number of these players are not in the Boks 15 this year its a crime. Jantes was superb as was Kriel and Mapoe. Highlanders had no answer to that pace, handling and physicality I really hope the Lions travel well and we have a great final. As an N...

If Savea is dropped, Waisake Naholo will play on the left wing. Lowe needs to show he's a better winger than Naholo and Ben Smith. Not sure he's done that yet. Yes and if Savea is left out to get help or find his way then Lowe can get his chance to impress. I was more than willing to let Savea work...

Savea Out, Lowe In

I can't honestly see how Julian Savea can continue to hold his spot in the AB's. Something is just not right with him. My guess is it's mental health related. I don't say that judgementally but from experience. If he was on strong meds it can cause the weight gains. Anyway I am not out to dig into t...

Observations at this stage are that something is wrong with Julian Savea. It could me mental health related or illness or personal life woes, but fact is that he is not up to snuff. Naholo coughed up so much ball and made poor choices. Admittedly playing out of position. I am sure I will get lombast...

Crusaders... as a Canterbury man I feel for you, but your inner circle love in of ex players as coaches has not done you any favours over the years. That was glorious stuff. That was exactly what the Crusaders team needed and all the fans deserved. So much fire and grit. Highlanders typify what I love about NZ Rugby. Brains and cohesion... the missing ingredients of the Blues for how long? They need to recruit very wisely in the coming seasons. Raw talent is just not enough. Never is. In the backs they need a guy like Ben Smith to be consistent and a steadying influence. Seems unfair to be taking a swipe when th...

I am sure feathers are ruffled. But the NZRU have nobody but themselves to blame for creating such a situation. This whole thing of swapping players in and out of Super duty is madness. The speed of the Highlanders players to the ruck is very good and the aggressive defence is paying off. Agree about Dixon continuing great form. Sopoanga looks well ahead of the pack for 10 so far.
