Re: Finau tackle on Edmed.

OK cool. You’ve found two examples from 100 years ago. I have also been in the coaching scene extensively, and union coaches focus on different things. Mainly because you don’t usually have a guy coming at you with a 10m run-up Also, body heights are typically much lower in Rugby. Or not https://ww...

Re: Finau tackle on Edmed.

Yes, and you can contest the ball

Putting a ‘hit’ on is low percentage play in union (as you have said)
Better to either hold the player up, or bring him down so he has to release.

Are you arguing with me for the sake of it? You've already agreed it was a legal tackle  Nope. Re: Finau tackle on Edmed.

I saw the game in real time, and I thought the tackle was borderline but not deserving of a card. If I was one of the Chiefs' coaches, I'll be having a quiet word with him about technique and improving the arm wrap action. It wasn't even penalised. He's completed 4 tackles like that in recent games...

I’ll confess I was surprised to learn that EJ had appointed Skelton as captain Not because Skelton isn’t talented and smart, but because: a) he was overseas based and had no local rapport with the players b) he’s a tight forward, with nose-to-the-grindstone. Not a particularly brave prediction, I grant you (given his obvious track record) but this a side match-thread (not the WB thread) so I can say this without too much fear

Re: Investing

Each to their own. I think there’s no harm in having a little bit to put into hunches like ‘lithium’ or that stock your wife’s friend talked about

It’s not really investing, more punting. But it stops you feeling tempted to exit investments to chase things and scratches an itch

All IMO
