Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Matt Williams in today's Irish Times. hard to disagree  Yup, he writes a lot of Guff, but not wrong on this. Hard to escape the feeling there's a tier of coaches and admins in Munster (specifically) and Munster rugby (generally) who absolutely love themselves and think they can do no wrong. ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Dupont is a powerful ball carrying 9, amongst other things. DuPont will also get the ball away quickly and keep his team on the front foot. Dupont is just unnaturally good. It's very hard to compare with him as he's just such a complete rugby player who doesn't fit a particular category of SH.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

It's interesting to see it come from a player. Albeit my own view was always that Murray was a type of player that was perhaps not as useful at the end of his career as had been the case when he was younger. T he powerful ball-carrying 9 a la Mike Phillips is currently not in vogue as teams go back...

Afaik both are in sub academy this season. Ashmore has played mostly 8 to date, but I think they see him as a 7 at pro level. What do people make of Murray's criticism of Munster in general and Rowntree in particular? I never really thought much of him as a scrum coach. Look at the first test for the Lions in '09 for example. But it's hard to square the criticism with him winning a title and generally being quite popular ...

It's a BBC series now on Netflix. 2 seasons with 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but only 69% audience. In our opinion even the latter is a significant rea...
