Re: Bledisloe 1: All Blacks vs Wallabies: MATCH THREAD: Saturday 27th September
The hype leading up to the last game at Eden Park was the catalyst that led to the crash and burn in Wellington. The boys put so much pressure on themselves to preserve the fortress, that it ended up coming back to bite them. Perhaps it's time for a loss there just to get the bloody hoodoo out of th...

I watched the Black Ferns v the Womens Springboks this morning. It was a great game, played in good spirits, but what a second half by the Black Ferns.

Re: Congrats Bokke
Well done to the Springboks. They went back to their DNA, no bomb squad, no mid field line outs, just pure, brutal angry rugby. They have set a benchmark for the All Blacks to aspire to, and if the All Blacks manage to get up and win the next RWC, they might well be able to trace the genesis of that...

IT'S GAME DAY. Not quite the hype of last week, with the Eden Park factor and Ardies 100th, but here's a few associated stats for this game. This is the 110th game between the two sides. The All Blacks have won 63. The Springboks have won 42. There have been 4 draws. In 15 games played in Wellington...

Positives, Parker was great, a top find. D-mac and Christie both had very good games, although Christie is a bit one dimensional at times. Forwards did everything well except scrum. Ardie was huge as usual. Sititi had some nice touches. Negatives. High balls, scrums. But overall, what a test match t...

What role does D-mac fill on the bench? When he came on, he slotted in to wing? If you want a genuine wing/fullback who covers 10, why on earth would you not put Love in there? Not only that, he's better under the high ball, and has a better kick. Better defender too.

Calling for Tavatavanawai to be selected over ALB, our best defensive midfielder, who can cover both 12 and 13 equally well, is the epitome of only watching one side of the ball. ALB tackled at 93.3% in SR this year. He's our best defensive midfielder and organiser by a distance. His versatility is...

A win is a win , however creaky . Plusses: great refereeing , particularly of the breakdown and a welcome change after the complete garbage of the Lions V Wallabies Tests . Even bigger plus , finally someone penalised for taking out players beyond breakdown/ruck . Good solid performance by the AB 8...

Hey Aussies.
Remember the last Lions tour of NZ, and the series ended up as a draw because a NH ref didn't have the guts to award a penalty after a Lions player had clearly played at the ball in an offside position?
Remember that?
I do.
Bloody sucks, don't it.

As a lot predicted, NZ were clunky for an hour... not enough people at ruck time (playing like Super Rugby?) and too passive at the breakdown... slowly but surely in the second half, the All Blacks started dominating the rucks and France couldn't get out their 22 for the last 20 minutes... despite ...

Who is Beauden's backup in 10? D-Mac is a very good rugby player. He is able to hugely influence games at Super Rugby Level, but when he has a bad game, it's a shocker. Look at the Super Rugby final. He tried to do too much on his own, and it choked everyone else around him. He is often found wantin...

Second time a held up from an offside position. No idea why that wasn't picked up by the TMO either. Seriously remiss. Reiko out, Sevu to the left, Jordan to the right, Jordie onto the bench. It's probably not the worst thing to have Jordan helping Love out at the back on his first start. It's a pity the couldn't do a straight swap with Narawa. Jordie has a heavy workload. Given Jordie has played in every backline ...

Love looks very good at 15 in Super rugby in the dry. July in a test match on a wet evening, I wonder if he'll just have the same issues that DMac does. I think we'll see a similar evolution to DMac, hopefully he'll transition to 10 better than DMac has. It won't be wet....but it will be bloody col...

Nic Berry is the most god-awful referee that ever refereed.
Wouldn't know how to ref a breakdown if he had it slowed down and colour coded.

Bit of a spanking to be fair. PUJ and Proctor both firing are a hell of a mi...
