Re: Best Sci-Fi Novels

Chasm City. Spent the whole day reading to finish it as I was enjoying it so much. Brilliant. Enjoyed it more than Revelation Space, but I guess part of the enjoyment was based in the stuff I already knew from RS. Still an excellent standalone novel. Absolutely love the Use of Weapons feel to it, w...

Yes, they turned him into recurrent comic relief, but considering their other crimes, this one at least worked out well. https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Tormund-leers-at-brienne-game-of-thrones.jpg?q=50...

To be clear (and I don't think I was entirely, in my post above  ), I was principally taking issue with the idea of admin tasks being some sort of cherished currency. I agree completely, the whole point of STEM in schools is that we are trying to encourage more people into STEM fields - any people from any background - there still aren't enough. That's really sad. I'd never thought about it as I don't have kids - there was a massive push for more people to take ...

Got a Roomba 960 here, only good things to say about it. Vacuuming is a time waste and a pain in the back (literally), but with asthma running in the family, we can't skimp on it so having the little fella doing it by itself is fantastic. It goes back to its charging station by itself, and if it was...

The French got f**ked early on and seeing the influx of Yanks on Dday associate them with their liberation which is fair enough. It's more complicated than that. There are 75 years of history lessons, propaganda, culture, etc that have changed perceptions over the years. What you see in those graph...

For indoor shooting, we hang a large heavy cloth behind the targets, it does wonder to stop stray arrows and avoid them smashing the wall behind. You'll likely want to do something like that in your garden. That'll avoid your arrows being lost, broken onto a rock, or finding their way into someone's...
