Re: Investing
The UsD is the only rate that matters. US inflation will be back next year big time. That may or may not happen regardless I don't expect a big correction and I'm certainly not going to wait for one to happen. If A,Eric’s booms , then the inflation will be legendary. If it stalls then only staples ...

Do you get 20% off the market price? I used to work for a company called Old Mutual (used to be in FTSE 100 before they had a demerger) and bought about 15K worth of shares over the years through the share save scheme but they are only worth about 7K now. :x Should have sold them before the demerge...

Re: Investing
Picking individual stocks is obviously riskier but can still be rewarding if you buy shares of quality companies and hold them for long. I tend to buy blue chip stocks when they are down and have done really well with most of them. Probably 30% of my portfolio consists of UK stocks and apart from V...

Re: Chiefs are playing someone this evening
I was just going to say John Eales and Martin Johnson but saw CIs post.
I think Skelton was a poor choice given that he wasn't even a regular starter but that decision was fairly dry bittorm of all the shit decisions Eddie Moans made.

I didn't mean to anger the Greens - Yousaf published at 13:54 13:54 Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf says ending the power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens was the right thing to do but he did not mean to upset or anger the party. He says he hopes to speak to Scottish Greens co-leaders P...

So now Scottish Labour are bringing in a vote no confidence in the whole SNP government. This is more serious than the no confidence vote against Humza as it's a binding vote. If they lose that, the Scottish parliament will be dissolved and new election will be held I think. Interesting, They must ...

Each to their own. I think there’s no harm in having a little bit to put into hunches like ‘lithium’ or that stock your wife’s friend talked about It’s not really investing, more punting. Thing is unless you buy individual. US shares, you are almost always buying FANGS or whatever you want to call them when you buy US ETFs or mutual funds. I think majority of money in the last couple of weeks went in to US funds. Nothing wrong with ETF’s or their composition Was talking more about o...

Yet polls show that the Rwanda plan has very low support among the public and stats show most of the people arriving on small boats are granted leave to stay as they are refugees. The small boats would drop if we made it possible for people to apply for asylum through safe and legal routes, instead...

Without wanting to wade into the debate, my opinion is that equities are at (or near) the bottom. I specifically exclude FANGS from this sentiment, as they remain toppy. I’m referring to sensible growth stocks. Yeah I tend to agree about FANGS. I thought that acronym got replaced by the term The ma...

It seems that many of those travelling through NI to claim International Protection in Ireland have already claimed such status in the UK. The Irish government is now going to change our laws to allow us to simply ship any such people back to Blighty. https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/housing-plan...

Agreed. No one in that pack be playing for Australia I think Tupou will probably make the squad due to his reputation. I expect LSL and maybe Leota to make the squad as well. Leota is a myth. Been watching him a bit as I want an option to the horrendously overrated Valetini. Leota is not that optio...

AAA is gash. Proper gash. But all Australian players are. None are top 5 except Lenny. I disagree with that mate. I don't think he's that bad. He's the best we have. Watch that Italy 2022 game. Worst game played by an Australian prop since Al Baxter at twicks. Shoudlve been a ‘never again’ type of ...
